We went to visit my parents in Texas for Christmas. As usual the dog went with us.
Last year when Xena went with us for the first time my folks thought that Pit Bulls were some vicious dog that could not be tamed. Well, as usual with her silly attitude, Xena wne them over. My folks don't like dogs but don't mind Xena cause they say she's so well behaved, yea right.

Also while home, a buddy of mine who I’ve known for about 35 years stopped by to say hello. He and his wife were terrified of dogs, especially Pit Bulls. To put them at ease we talked out front. He told me a story of how his sister was bitten by a dog for no reason. I told them there was a reason, be it bad breeding or his sister did something that scared the dog.

For what ever the reason the dog bit, in my opinion that dog should have been put down. I told him that from what I saw a couple of days before, the possibility of puppies being sold a little early it didn’t surprise me that there might be some bad blood lines in the area.

(While leaving the Wal-Mart parking lot a few days earlier some bone heads looked like they had some pretty young Pit Bull pups for sale. I was going to stop but the wife wouldn't let me. Some people should not be allowed to own much less breed dogs, especially Pit Bulls.)

This goes to show you that no matter what some folks like my buddy will always think Pit Bulls are just plain evil and people like my parents that used to think they were vicious killers change their attitude.

  2. Well my mom was one of those people who believed what the media makes pit bulls out to be...vicious, untrainable killers. Then she met my dog and she has completely changed her mind about the entire breed! Although some people will always remain stubborn and stuck on the whole media hype about these dogs, I figure if I can change a few people's minds about the breed then it's definetely worth it. :)

same here, when i got my first pit, i lived at home, and my dad dreaded me gettin her, he was like you have to keep her chained up, don't let strangers around her, and watch her close, but after he was around her and seen what great dogs there are, he finally started givin in little by little, and now, he is the one that owns her, he wouldn't leave me alone until she was his, so it goes to show you don't judge a dog by what others say, find out for yourself

People listen to the news to much. My mom told me she will worry about me everynight that i have a pitbull living with me. I told her she shouldnt be worried because my pit sleeps on the end of my bed and no one would be stupid enough to try and get in my house while shes there.

Ive tried to explain to people that pits are the horrible things that people make them out to be. I try to tell them that if they just relax and let Daisy sniff them over than they'll be fine. But no. Most people see her and run in the other direction.

I cant really complain to much though because i have the best security system i could ever need.

Dog fighting is really big around the area im in. People get pits and breed them just to sell the pups. Most of the puppies have never seen a vet or recieved any kind of worming or vaccines when they go to thier first homes. Most people start getting rid of the puppies when they are only 5 or 6 weeks old.

I just had a litter of pups and one person who was interested in getting one told me that i could give them the puppy now and they would bottle feed it. I said sorry my pups stay with me till thier atleast 8 weeks old. Most people dont realize that between 6 and 8 weeks is when a puppy learns most of its social behaviors.
