APBT or something else

Discussion in 'Dog Discussion' started by T.Cleveland, May 11, 2016.

  1. Recently encountered a conversation in which someone made a statement that just because an APBT doesn't come from game lines does not mean it isn't one. Was wondering what your take is on this. Does the breed exist outside of game bred lines or would these non game dogs be considered another breed? Does anyone have any history on whether there were "non-game" lines being bred back in the day?

If your not breeding for gameness then I would say call it a staff. I believe either way gameness can exists breed for it or not even when breeding for gameness the ratio is that maybe 1 in 100 would be considered truley game dogs. When not breeding for gameness the ratio might be 1000 in 1.

If it ain't seen the pit it ain't a pit dog..... Pretty cut and dry in my book. In mind their are dogs and bulldogs, if it hasn't proved to be a bulldog it's just a dam dog. And that goes for "game bred" dogs to. Just because it comes of two proven dogs doesn't mean it will be worth a shit. Anything not proven is pure speculation, and speculation has been known to lead to long sad rides home lol.

If one is not breeding for gameness or combat prowess, it's still the same breed of dog. It's an apbt. To be called a bulldog, pit dog, and all that, the dog would have to have proved his pit worthiness. Either by win or game loss, IMO. One mans "game dog" is the next mans cur.
