I have a female that will not go in her dog house, I've tried home made, barrel, and a plastic one from the store , I've even tried putting her dog food inside the house in the far back corner and she'll eat as much as she can reach without getting all the way in the house and leave the rest. It's been raining for two days so I went out ther while it was raining and shoved her in ther and waited with her but soon as I go inside she gets out and stands in the rain and mud. Any advice?

Having somewhat of the same problem, it can be found in the "How long will this take?" thread, you may get some ideas. However with mine i just put her in the above ground kennel and cope with her. She will take to the plastic but not the wooden insulated. Now all the sudden my other female isn't sleeping in hers either. I think its the double chambers that spooking them. Man its almost like they had some type of doggy conversation, thank god my males not listening, so far he uses both sides.

Thanks for the great idea, I don't have a above ground kennel but it gives some idea of what I can try, thanks a lot, also I talked to the guy I got her from and he said he didn't have that problem with her but thanks again

I have 2 dogs that were in a kennel together and used their house just fine. Put them out on a chain now they sit in the rain like idiots. All I can say is both have a house identical to the one they had. If they are to stupid to use it that's their own problem.

  7. I had the same problem with 2 dogs. I started using cedar chips and they love going in their respective homes now. You can use cedar chips or straw. Give it a shot.

I appreciate all the good advice, I'll definitely give it a shot, it hadn't worried me but with the cold weather coming I need her to use her house, I really don't wanna have to bring her in the house all winter, thanks again

Straw not cedar chips during winter, rayface. The dog will eventually go in there if it's dry in there. I have a stubborn one also, very stubborn, but eventually she went in her house. She still will sit out sometimes but I've learned to ignore her and she'll go in there. Keep a eye on here and use your head and she'll be fine. Abilene can get real cold in the winter so straw is a must.

Was using cedar, that's not the problem with mine it was the switch to wooden houses that seem to spook them. The last family I had would sniff a new spot p on it and call it theirs with no problem. My male doesn't care my females are a trip though. I just ignore them its raining today so I will see what happens.
