  1. I have a blue nose pittbull, male, 2 1/2 yrs old. in the last few weeks my husband and i have notice small red itchy bumps on his back and legs that have him loosing his fur. we havent done anything diffrent except let him take a swim in the lake for the first time. and when we were all done at the lake and back home we forgot to give him a shower to wash off the lake water right away. we gave him a shower almost a week later. and now we have notice this skin issue. i have no idea where it came from or what it is. can anyone help me out with some information, im so stressed out about it and scared its life threatening. he is like our other child and its killing me not knowing what it is or what is causing it. and at this point in life, my husband and i are in a financial situation that at this time we cant afford a 200.00 vet bill. so if anyone has any information on what we can do until we can get him into the vet next week please feel free to let me know.:(

  3. Oh, i did find on the web that it could be either skin allergies or mites or mange. although, this is the first time this has ever happened like this, so i doubt it would be allergies. im not sure. im scared its life threatening. im in tears and so upset, im hoping yall can help me figure out what it may be or what i can do to get rid off it. anything natural or home remedies i can do to tret this or does it have to be from a vet?

you may have to go to the vet. sounds like mange or allergies to me. you say "blue nose" so i am going to assume you got him from a breeder. they may have had some genetic issue they never told you about. next time examine the parents and pups closely if you can. good luck.

share some good pictures, I would say it might be a fungal issue due to the circumstance of coming on after the swim in the lake and an anti fungal spray such as used for athletes foot coupled with some anti fungal antibiotics such as albon can probably help...

try what cajun said..nu-stock...them little red spots /etc..can be quite common in dogs...if he's eating/drinking .crapping /etc..not much to worry about the nu stock works great on what you describe...........

Nu stock is amazing, also those blue dogs are notorious for having terrible skin allergies. I agree it's most likely an allergic skin reaction, which shouldn't be life threatening.

Dogs, especially the blues and bullies can develop allergies later in life, especially skin allergies. This may take a vet trip to identify.

It may take a diet change to off set the allergy.

It could be bites from anything. The frontlines/advantix of the world are only as good as the amount of water the dog is exposed to. A swim will usually shorten the working expectancy of the flea and tick preventers.

Pictures would help. Best of luck. S

Amazon has small bottles of Nu stock for $14. Try 7-10 days feed the dog only chicken and rice, see if it clears up or improves. If not
you can rule out a food allergy. If the dog lies on a "bed" wash it with a dye free detergent to see if it helps. if all of these don't help
it's probably genetic. You can spend all the $$ you want at the vet, won't do any good. I had a friend with a mastiff who spent tons of $$ going from vet to vet to vet.
The dog had skin probs it's whole life. He literally wasted $100's of dollars
