You're right. I was somehow thinking of a 10' diamter chain. Beer, sun and mathematics don't mix.

So a 10 ft chain yields 314 sq ft of room. Lol, about the beer

I have 11ft chain spots for the dogs now. I can stand in the chain spot and just imagine a 11 X 11 ft kennel (just to give fair 11 ft comparison) and there is no way you could confuse the kennel being larger. Easy to see.

I know this isn't a thread about kennels vs chain set ups, but a kennel only has three purposes for me. If a dog is banged up n recovering, a bitch with a litter or pups to young or small to put on a chain.

I agree. Or just a quick temp spot to put a dog while doing something. To each their own though.

I prefer a chain in a kennel, this way no kids Erin to my dog and if dog got out of chain he will be in kennel. Double security

I've done this years ago when I first got into dogs, but not with all of my dogs. I don't and wouldn't do it nowadays. I trust my chain setups enough to not have to.

I've done it with smaller dogs under a year old. An extra layer of security in case one does happen to get loose don't want em to be able to feast on the young
