I don't need help fixing it, got it taken care of already and its healed up completely, but I'm curious if anyone has seen anything like this before...

This was before I cleaned it and started meds.

Then I noticed on the opposite paw another appeared to be coming through..

Treated with antibiotics and ointment, closed and scabbed almost completely by time the anti course was over.

Seen something similar on a few others but nothing was as bad and warranted any meds like the blue dog.

    Thoughts?

  2. My queenie had it on her above her eye. Vet said it was a bite.

I doubt it was a bite. I talked with two people, viral or fungal possibly or maybe something in the straw? but no one knows for sure. It has shown up on at least 3 other dogs.

Seen dogs with paw issues in low lit/high moisture swamp areas, the owners vet thought it was fungal issues...
He cut down some trees to let the sun in didnt have any more problems, except older tight bred dogs whom systems might have been comprimised that he had to treat to they expired. he treated them alon time with creams and antibiotics that they might have grown ammune to before he cut the trees. might not have ben the cure but he felt it helped. again what I saw was issues with the paws???
I am curious about these paw issues also if anyone has any idea, please share...

The other dogs haven't needed meds. All are kept in clean dry areas and none are under any trees. I think the blue dog got it bad because he is blue, one has something similar to it on the head?
    Its odd.
I mean all but one dog that has shown signs of it have been brought with from the desert so, maybe that has something to do with it?

looks like lick spots to me . they get bored and lick their foot and it turns into a sore . you have to find something they don't like to lick and put on it . but i really have never seen or heard of something that works 100% of the time .

What is Canine Acral Lick Dermatitis or Lick Granuloma?

No licking except after the sore opened. It had greenish stuff you could see on his paw under the skin on the one that didn't open. Also showed up on top of ones head..
We are thinking it was something they were exposed to in the straw..?

i would give them 1 table spoon apple cider vinegar in their food to balance their ph . do you have a picture of it on the head ? sometimes lick spots can get a green discharge if they keep it wet by licking it . i would get a chair and move it back far enough that the dogs aren't fixed on you and just sit there for 1-2 hours and see if they are licking it . or just go out and grab the paw and feel if they're wet . the apple cider vinegar will get fungi to go away . if you have a black light you can look at the spots and see it the turn white in the light . then use Tinactin on it for 3 days .

I can try and get a pic of the head spot tomorrow and the spots on the other dogs.
We put the blue dog ceph for a few days but noticed green discharge from the nose and switched to amox and finished the course. I put ointment on it until the sore scabbed over completely. I'll attach pics of them tonight.

i see that sometimes from spiderbite..
also sometimes in winter dogs can get salt burnt(in midwest where salt is a freeze preventative)
have also seen fungial infects from straw and hay......all possible.
    antibiotic..great...triple/vit b//good.
after heals and if seems to move locations, well you know the jist, im sure,
nu stock on healing sores always works wonders...ancient cherokee recipe...
i have had luck with anti fungal/antibiotic ointments.

also i use vicks(menthal rub) on cetrain skin issues, with some effect. keep us posted...anything is a guess and we hope some of them can help...cheers on a absolutele georgeous litter of hounds and more props on keeping and evaluating them as you are. Future dog folk right here folks - no doubt!!!!
