Hey guys and gals I've been reading about how great DE powder is for treatment of worms and I was curious how to feed it to my dogs. Do I just dump dry powder in with their food or do I mix it with some yogurt or cottage cheese or maybe water. I don't see as they would like a pile of dry powder in their food. But will wetting it down cause it to be ineffective? Thanks in advance.

Im skeptical about it for a wormer but i do use it in their bedding and the chain spots. I do put it in their food maybe 2 times a month though for the remote possibility that it does kill anything internal but I use safegaurd as a monthly wormer. DE is ineffective when it gets wet so i find it hard to believe it works in a animals stomach where it is going to get wet. I use it for other pests, anything with an exoskelleton. You just mix it in the food dry, dont add water.

If forgot to add, if your going to be feeding it to the dog make sure you are buying the food grade DE. It will tell you how to feed it on the back of the bag.

I have used it and when I did I used it in 7 day cycles once every 4 months and yea u just sprinkle on the food and It tells you how much you should use.Like AGK says I wouldn't trust it as a wormer and I really saw no benefits good or bad from using this product.

Yeah I've got food grade but thanks for the tip I read that a heaping tablespoon every day for 30 days will rid parasites. How much do you sprinkle in to the bedding and circles

I put 2 cups in the boxes mixed in with either the cedar chips or straw depending on the time of year and 2 more cups sprinkled in the spots. I only use the stuff from April - October here, the rest of the year bugs and parasites are a non issue since everything is frozen solid.

D.E. works more like a expeller or herbal supplement and doesnt get rid of all the worms, hence why its not very effective as a wormer.

Plus I am concerned about giving D.E. internally at high dosages for long periods of time because it could possibly cause a build up and create a blockage in the dogs intestinal tract. Another one of my concerns with D.E. is the long term effects of inhalation when used externally.

When used externally D.E. is more effective then when used internally but even at that D.E. used externally alone as the only source of a flea and tick treatment for your yard is not that effective and also you need to use a shit load of it to just to get decent results.

The MAIN reason people use D.E. is because its more natural with out all the harmful toxic chemicals found in most pesticides.

Its good externally & works on anything with an exoskeleton. Like agk, im skeptical on how well it works as a dewormer as Im not sure how it serves its purpose unless it dry. Never thought about the potential blockage. But id definately say it serves its purose externally, id put it on the dog but wouldnt use it on the bedding....

I use it around the yard. And I put it in food and around where I store my food, just to keep ants and other shit from getting in the food

Same here, I keep it in the chicken feed. I suppose it works the same in kibble...

I tried it and had NO LUCK with it whatsoever. I had a flea infestation and poured the powder on dogs heavy. NOTHING. Washed
dogs, and gave them comfortis. I swear I haven't seen a flea one. Panacur for all worms. Heartgard plus for heartworm.
