    Hello guys,

What bloodlines are typical for small pitbulls? I am looking to buy one and I want it to be small and athletic.

Yes I agree with you. I want a real pb, but I dont want it to be stocky and 70lbs. I know a lot of pits are around 40-50lbs and still the real deal.

What do you consider to be a small PB? The standard is 30-60 lbs.

I really like males along the lines of Andy Capp and Banjo as an example. So much bang in such a small package is impressive. Exact weight isn't something I'd use in selecting for breeding though, unless it's extreme.

I never asked her. Myself, I not much of a pecker person, so the topic never comes up.

Lol my point Danny some like em small and some like em bigger and some don't care either way..Personally I don't care either way what size a dog is but I do like a bigger dog for hog catching as long as he is athletic and quick..But I have smaller dogs I like also.

To me when you start to loose quickness and athletic ability you are too big ..But I like a dog that can move like a cat and I don't care if he is small or big.

Big dogs that have that cat like agility are impressive. When people had bigger yards they wanted good ones at all weights. Ultimately, for me, weight is very far from the top of my list of considerations.

In fairness the OP asked a fairly simple question. It had nothing to do with your or anyone else's preferences. Some folks like smaller dogs and some like larger dogs and there is nothing wrong with that. Whatever floats your boat. Are there any really good lines that tend to run small?

It's not a simple answer. Banjo produced a good percentage of dogs that would be considered good and small to some. So did Andy Capp. Some offspring were 50lbs conditioned, some were 30lbs. Depends what you define as good and what you define as small.

Good answer DannyB., our evaluations on the Banjo/Andy capp crosses have been similar. After breeding tight for years tends to bring down the size in alot of lines. William Lightners later dogs are a good example, Ive noticed similar patterns in both Banjo as Andycapps pedigrees intel. I have also noticed that if you outcross those two lines and you tend to get alot bigger dogs. I had a small (high twenties) daughter of Banjo who was from a redboy outcross. Her grandson is the biggest dog i ever owned. Seen the same from another little male (high twenties also) that was from an inbred Andycapp line . Id also put Visegrips Poncho in that catagory of consistant smaller well rounded bulldogs. Rarely do you see extremely small dogs from outcrossed bloodlines or HUGE ones from tight/inbred linage...

. I've had some small bobby jr/dirty Mary crosses. They seem to avg 30lbs, as low as 18, but have one big ole female pup now, prolly close to 50#.

I'm not a member to any online peds so the only one I have a ped for is his daughter. I bought her when she was 4 or 5 months old and she already had an online ped. Her online ped number is 198967. I can't ever figure out how to copy and paste on this iPad. She is low 30's chain weight. Vdawg himself was only a 33 or 34 lb dog
