Thanks TDK..... Sometimes the lessons come easy.... sometimes not so much. Seems as though I've always turned pride into the high hurdle at my own expense. But lessons learned the hard way are still lessons learned.

yes that is very true the dogs chose me is very simple to the point and true they show you what you like or dont its not about familys really but what works for you because what the next guys look for in one family can be very different from what you were expecting or want to hold a standard too
always keeping a open mind for good individuals is key as well in my yard

I always say, let the dogs tell you which to breed. And isn't that the same thing as selectivity? LOL

The Consistency of the Dogs I was seeing .....
The Honesty and Sincerity of the Breeder "(always trying to get better) "
AND THEY WERE JUST DAMN GOOD BULLDOGS....
And I've had the same line for more than 3 Decades ...

bump-As this is a great topic, TDK is the truth ! Words of wisdom BigD, As i am still learning 1 day at a time. I have changed directions over the years. Studying peds of sum of the greatest of all times & following them back, I came to my own conclusion. More often than not the linage took me back to ''The Colby Line'' So i decided about 3 years ago to buy a pair. I did. Now over the last 6 months i also bought sum other ''Proven performance'' bulldogs that were available to me. Here are 3 examples-Colby brother and sister Major & Raven-
    Then ONLINE PEDIGREES :: [333054] :: <FONT COLOR=DARKBLUE>MAJOR<FONT COLOR=DARKRED>COLBY <FONT COLOR=DARKGREY>! My Hollingsworth and Gaston Redboy Redjohn & Repogirl-
ONLINE PEDIGREES :: [488346] :: STONE ROW KENNELS' RED JOHN And last but not least Bad,Bad,ONLINE PEDIGREES :: [373734] :: WAGNER'S LEROY BROWN

LOL Being blind may be fine with someone if they're breeding "genes". Pays to be able to see things if you're breeding DOGS, though, Key.

The first ill ownd was rold in my house and after that ill goth and bred on the working aspects, in the mean time i was leurning more and more about the apbt and specially about the sorrells bloodline and got a good contact with the winchesters. So the chois off family dog @ the yard was born. Now when i will buy a dog it will be sorrells. Now ill dit a breeding with a pure sorrells and the dogs ill bred in the past.
Looking forwards to see them in a few years as a growing up dog.
4 females were born 2 weeks ago and 1 will go away off are yard. 1 @ are home and 2 by friends who works with me to buld out the yard.
So thats my article off the choose of the family dog @ are yard

Liked working dogs & seen them work. Liked what I saw.
Papers ,colors, & nothing else were involved.
Picked dogs that worked & bred to dogs that worked & continued the process.
The ones that didn't work didn't get bred.
But the ones that did work created a family based on each of there own performances & not there past.
You only know what you see.

When i heard Wardt's ch Thunder killed 4 dogs and the only one survived was picked up in 8 minute's i thought this is the limit for inbreeding.I kept this family and never keep seperate family's then this one only. They wern't only hunters but conformation show winners also winning over 600 dogs best in show.I never saw something better.

Agree with keystone 100% from experience!
I go by generations a little more than years & can tell you the weights range, performance style, color & even with sex group will be best out of the litter.
From this one because of hands on experience with ach dog in the pedigree. from these http://www.apbt.online-pedigrees.com/modules.php?name=Public&file=printPedigree&dog_id=427582 back to this one http://www.apbt.online-pedigrees.com/modules.php?name=Public&file=printPedigree&dog_id=360740 who the others come down from.
    Or @ least his 1/2 siblings .
All head dogs with a little extra prey drive.
As keystone stated "YOU SHOULD KNOW A LITTLE BIT MORE THEN THAT!
