Is there any way for you to get ahold of the guy you got the pup from and ask which shots they were? most likely it was just a puppy shot from the local feed store...which is usally a 7 in 1...but not always though.

Go ahead & get your dog vaccinated with an 8-1 vaccine & the Rabies vaccine (which must be done by a licensed vet). Then in 1 month, administer another 8-1 vaccine & your dog should be good to go. Still try to find out what the breeder gave, but I have a very strong feeling about people who vaccinate with no proof or detailed information to give you...............

Question for the proponents of the 7-1 or 8-1 vaccination givers? Why and what’s the purpose of doing such unless in an epidemic area?

  5. I usually start with the 5-1 for the first two and then do 2 of 7-1. With the new pups I have, the only thing available locally were 7-1 so that was that. I'm not even familiar with the 8-1....what all does that cover? I'd read somewhere that they shouldn't receive the lepto until 16? weeks. I pretty much have followed the recommendations in one of the vet supply mags I receive. I'd welcome any additional info some of you more knowledgeble owners have eg: pros and cons of the various vaccines. It sounds like you have some additional insight, Texas...I'd be grateful.
