My 10 month old is in her first heat and i was wondering how long the bleeding will last.

about 3 weeks, don't let her outside unless your watching her, you'd be surpised how fast a male will show up.

Why Dont U Just Go Outside With Her Just Keep Her On A Short Leash

 

and what is he to do if a loose dog approches them? A male can become angry if it is pulled away from breeding (specially if the person is not its owner).

if you are not using her for show, weight pulling, or any other legal activities that require the dog not to be fixed, theres only one sure way to prevent her from creating pups... SPAYING It will also put an end to the bleeding and messes it creates... and creates a healtheir, happier pet

 

I was about to say the same thing. It is definately healthier for the dog to be spayed, and makes the whole living situation much more doable. So unless she is involved in a competition which demands that she stays un-fixed, I would spay her ASAP.

 

you can weight pull with a fixed dog..... you just cant show but i even think there is a loop hole to that.

You can show your dog spayed, whose going to look for a spay line. What would be the point to have a champion that can't produce puppies?

My girl was in heat when she was 10 mon old for a little over 3 weeks. I went and got her those doggie underware and used human panyt liners, the doggie ones are more expensive, and pretty much the same thing. I would recommend getting at least 2 pair of the underoos tho incase you need to wash one you don't want her making a mess of your house. And if and when you bring her out side watch her close, cuz my girl wanted to be OUT! She smelled every male in the neighboor hood, and they were practily barking down my door. lol Good luck. I plan on getting shug spayed, so hopefully it was my 1st and last heat.
