Any feed back on the runt of the litter

 

i would always keep the runt of a litter

 

@ Epona mind elaborating why you always keep the runt? I usually do as well I'm just curious as to what your reasoning is.

the runt of the litter only mean it's the smallest dog it does not mean it is go be the best dog it could be a cur jmo keep an raise all of them an see which ones is good an cull the rest

I have heard ppl say that they usually keep the runt of the litter b/c they are usually the smallest consequently they have to fight to feed and get attention so in a sense it makes them stronger and harder workers...#that's not a fact or anything but when I heard that statement from the guy I thought about it...kinda makes sense to me..jmo

 

Nothing Special because we in Europe have more smaller APBT than in the US, and my dogs only throw big ones, otherwise the runt learns to fight for his life from the first day, i love dogs with this personality and courage, if the runt is too weak against his siblings i allow mother nature the culling, but if the runt surive sure i will keep em, only for the reason that the dog won the hardest fight ever in his life. No matter a Runt will Quit or Stop without any Doubt, a runt is no HokusPokus Dog, but shows personality and the will to surive from the first days, thats why i like em

 

I agree, I once had a runt who grew into a fearless character. Best friend I ever had hands down. Although I have heard many people saying that their runt grew to be the largest of the litter. But their physical size comes no where near outweighing their character in my experience.

 

the only i ever had that a runt and very small bitch throws very very big dogs, the sire was a small one too, but it was an inbreeding and i guess we shake the dna a little bit new and got and old throwback from the ancestors of those dogs.

 

Not sure why you would keep the runt.Runts are some times half the weight and size of all there litter mates.Right off the bat there are signs of a weakling.Alot of runts have weak hearts and die with in three months.If I was trying to breed a healthy small bulldog and I bred the litter myself so the pup would be free then I would choose a lively runt and see how it turns out.Paying top dollar for a runt is taking a chance to me.On the other hand these bulldogs are funny how they turn out,,I've seen the biggest pup turn out to be short and thick,,,seen the smaller pups turn out average in size.I my self bought a nice smith and walton gyp off a 30lb gyp that turned out to be 55lbs.

haha who the hell told you that crazy stuff ? there is nothing wrong with a runts heart . and whoever pays more for a runt well they should be ripprd off if they are dumb enough to pay more for 1 pup than the others in the litter .
