I like the concrete. I am working on getting the time to build my yard the way i have always had in mind. I have always been a chain fan so my chain spots will always be there but I am going to build moveable kennels built out of steel with an expanded metal floor and tin roof. They will be about 6 inches off the ground and on skids so i can pull them to different spots on the yard when needed. 6x12 each with a brood box on the back for pups or hurt dogs. Im not a kennel person and would rather have my bulldogs on a chain or cable run or running free but there are times when you need a kennel! I think we all know with these dogs to never be surprised on what can happen overnight or at any moment with these dogs so i guess its always best to be prepared. ;)

I just used some 1 dollar patio blocks to line the floor of kennel. It worked well. I also like white rock. The lime in it is a natural "helper" when it comes to fleas. Concrete is good..cant dig, but I use the pavers.

you guys are nuts. no offense to anyone but concrete? shit. try laying on concrete in the hot summer. try laying on it in the cold winter. try standing on it, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. it is about the most inhospitable material to live on. under ok fine, that works, but to live ON concrete all the time would be just like an uncomfortable prison cell lol. i have tried it all, and using pressure treated decking material as a kennel base has by far been the best. i can move the kennel bases if i want to re arrange them. my dogs can lie on the wood any time of year, and it is comfortable. since the deck are built above ground, clean up is a cinch. having them above ground on cinder blocks allows for rain water to flush any excess waste away. it is cheaper and it isnt permanent. you can fasten the kennel to the base with conduit clamps and a couple screws. the list goes on and on.

I use pressure treated 1 x 6's they are easy to replace and easy to clean and my kennels are a foot and a half above the ground the waste falls through the cracks. Then i throw lime under the kennels to help with the smell and help with the break down i also walk my dog's out twice a day to cut down on waste under the kennels

  10. Thats what Iam debating...I was thinking about using the composite material like trex for the floor. Just built my deck with it and its real strong and pretty much weather proof.

If you have the money for trex thats the route I would go,to much money for me

  12. Yeah its costly but well worth it

That aint no lie. I should clearify..I used the patio blocks as a border to de-tour them from digging. I feel the same way about the whole thing being concrete.

concrete is good but you dont have to do the whole kennel a portion of the kennel is good..if your worried about digging simple solution is put dog wire on the ground under your cattle pannels.Use it like a matt under your cattle pannels ..it works great..I love a slab in a kennel its also nice to have grass so they can choose which ever to lay on..and the concrete is nice to put your dog house on.
