Can a dog tell who is game

This is interesting, because on the old yard video with Gr. Ch. Virgil just running loose on the yard around other dogs, I always wondered why he did'nt straight smash the other dog when they were nose to nose...something to consider I guess.

I don't believe so. "Game" and "gameness" is a trait that was created by (well, the name/concept of it, you know what I mean) humans and applied to dogs.
I don't believe a dog can tell whether or not another dog is game, I believe he's reacting to his natural instinct (dog-aggression) and wants to bite the other dog, of course. I also believe that a dog can tell whether or not a dog understands his position/authority, how confident he is, etc.. but this is all in the dog's body posture and expression.

Dog-selective, maybe.. or maybe he just associated one particular environment/building/area with aggression.

Simple answer to the question YES a game dog knows another game dog more times then not but they dont know who is gamer so they gotta see lol!!!

Generally adults dont hit puppies cause of puppy breathe lol laugh but look it up

grch virgil isnt the only pitdog i know about that wont just hit any ol dawg they learn what the box is about that dont make em all fight crazy

And IMO gameness is NOT a trait its a state of mind

 

Gameness is a human term, Dogs know dominance or submission.
Alpha dog knows a punk when they see one and doesn't bother, now another alpha ( It's ON!!!! )

I've had some APBT's that had great instincts on people to, had my boy Brick at the park watching little league and this dad I don't care for came over to talk to me and Brick decided to piss on the guy, never does that to anybody. I took it as he knows a punk when he see's one=)
Also have a friend on our walk route that we stop and talk to,real cool guy but his woman is a trippy (vodoo chick), first time she walks out the house Brick fired up at her just like he just saw the devil ( I think he did!).
Dogs have good senses in general.

 

That's some funny stuff.a while back my cousin needed a place to stay (he was pretty bad on drugs at the time).My dog would not stop looking at him.I ended up going to bed after a little catching up and when I woke up all my cousins stuff was packed and he was pacing near the door ready to go...he told me that the whole night all he saw was my dogs 2 eyes looking right at him.I said I don't know I think he just likes you lol,and wished him a safe trip home.

 

Our dogs Zona and Rio are greedy to to food. Rio is chained to a tree and Zona is not. When Rio eats and if someone(except mom) comes closure the dog starts to growl. But Zona do not do that. I think behavior of each dog sometimes differs from others .

 

that is called food aggression. a dog telling another dog (and sometimes people) that im willing to get nasty over what is mine.

Im gonna bite. . . my previous amstaff male hated a particular grandfather-in-law (human). Hell, they both hated eachother. Years later, my current dog, whose never growled at anyone, female mix won`t even let that fucker in the house. Ok it`s not a gameness issue, but the dogs sure seem to `know` sometimes.

 

One of my dogs hates bums... I guess she is cheap..
