The dogs are doing just fine. All expectations are being met beautiful and more than happy with the breeding. We are more than pleased with the results. Yis Ole Man. The Pit Bull Bible Online APBT Database -

also let me add a scater bred gr ch or any tight bred gr ch for that matter doest always produce like he performs most the times that gr ch is a freak for any line and might never produce the same but if you have a proven producer regardless of pedigree can produce to anything that is also a freak of sorts as you will find not alot dogs are truly gr chs or roms regardless of pedigrees
save your self from paper chasing look for a honest dog man doing honest breedings

I never bred to freak for those reasons Manic. We only breed to good solid dogs from solid families, its very easy for someone to get caught up in chasing names or long dead dogs. As most who been around know dogs throw the average of their family. Sad thing is most have no idea what it is they are looking for. Yis Ole Man

To me it depends on the bitch... If she is bred based upon a family of dogs then id go with the gr ch if she is more loosely bred then id go to the tighter male (he did say he was a proven producer) because as someone said if the dogs are truly scatterbred then you dont know what line each individual pup will take after... thats even more like yahtzee than craps

I've read through this and I'm afraid that I don't see much if any validity to the so-called choice this thread asks. It seems to only offer a choice between two ridiculous extremes.

So, why such a question when there are so many great options as to which dogs you might breed or breed to which fall in between these two silly extremes. Most who have bred dogs a minute realize that to maintain a good yard, we have to maintain a good, consistent average of most traits in our yard to remain competitive and productive.

Remember that one man or woman's average shouldn't be confused with what is average overall. The game is to have a better average dog with better consistencies than the next guy. You couple that with a little creativeness in breeding to possibly get those standouts, and you have a sensible program which just may tend to stay highly competitive..........against anyone.

I see NO reason to offer these two ridiculous extremes, ONLY, as to breeding methods and choices. The discussion of more viable and sensible entities may be much more entertaining and have much more considerable meaning than a thread with these silly limitations as to choice and the reality of breeding excellent dogs on a consistent basis.

Yes GOD FORBID someone try and start a thread on a public discussion board asking a question to spark debate and share our views. Lets cut him down as a man, a dog owner and breeder as soon as we can.

Speaking for only myself, I agree with you, Chuvalo, and it made me question if anything I was trying to point out might have sounded direct or personal to anyone. If so, I surely didn't mean it to be, and if anything even may have, I'll jump right in and apologize for it even possibly appearing so.

I meant to address the context of the thread, and although there was a degree of critique to it, I merely meant that the thread question could be a little more overall encompassing of many more choices in the breeding of good dogs. I think the question is a might "narrow" and that is all I meant to say. The choice truly is based on two incredible extremes and I will hold onto that as my meaning, but if it could be taken personally, if I didn't specify well enough on that score, I do apologize for that lack of entry into it.

t makes a good point but for conversations sake ill play along.....

if it was me, it would depend..... if the tight bred cold dog had a high percentage of bad ass siblings, with bad ass parents from had bad ass grand parents, then id breed to that cold dog that comes from a family of all stars over the all star gr ch that comes from a loose background.

however, if the tight bred cold dog came from a litter of bums with bum parents.... then id roll the dice on the gr ch and linebreed on your best dog in attempt to gain some uniformity & consistancy......

but like T said, both are extreme scenariios that most dog folks would rarely find themselves in..... theres always better out there....

That was not directed at you TDK, I have found you to be not only one of the more informative members on here but one of the more respectful ones as well. Bottom line is there are members here Im guessing from all walks of life and of different experience levels with these dogs...but the one thing we have in common is an ''interest'' in these ol bulldogs.

After a days work and everything I need doing on the homefront I need doing is done, I like to at times log in and read or make a post or two. So hard to make an interesting thread to please everyone so why be nasty to someone who is just tryin to start a chat at the end of his or her day. I enjoy the fantasy threads as much as the serious ones....just have a cold one (or two) like me and enjoy it for what it is...a small escape.

I wouldn't breed to a cold dog, unless it was the last SOB with nuts left on the planet. And then I'd still be taking the baddest bitch on my yard too him! Why breed cold dogs, I don't get it. I've even heard an argument as to how a cold bitch and cold male are different. But shit why use either when there are plenty solid hounds out there?

    Sincerely Yours, Cajun

I would not breed to the best dog out there if his ped did not impresse me, scater bred dogs do produce but its not working the way people think it works... IF your into famely breeding and famely traights that set apart the golden age of the american pitbull terrier from the 60/70/80s. then you should stay away from these type of dogs. NOW you could use him on that very imbred cold bitch, as SHE would probely dominate the genetic make up in sutch a litter. The random gene pool of that scatterbred grch could give enoughf HYBRID VIGER to dilver awesome looking and performing dogs.. But as said his gene pool is so weak(teoraticly) that the bitch can be the compleat dominad facter. having said that it has been done and at times with great results.
Scatter bred breeding aka best to best Brings along a compleat random outcome and in retrospect your breeding for gamenes only and nothing els. Pat Patrick ecsplained it the best way. He said that if your Breeding for size. and we dont look at breeds and we use a great dane and breed it to a Irich wolfhound and take a bitch from that litter and breed it to a Saint Bernard take a bitch from that and breed it to a turkish Kangal. The out come would be that your stil having BIG DOGS. Yet the random outcome of the genes is as scatter bred as one can be!!. Uniformety is GONE lots of random looking pups and outcome of behavier and coleration and bone strukture is iminend......

It works the same when breeding best to best aka Scaterbred breeding. altho they are stil pure bred APBT within the breed....... They are compleat mongrols. and the only thing your breeding on is Gamennes.
Now gameness is the single most importend thing. But reproducing QUALITY is out the window the chanse of getting a GRCH reproducing it self ore producing dogs closer to his being behavier and stile ecetera is very very low!!!.

And as people know bij now i would breed to that REAL COLD dog(bitch) with a 50/50 famely out cross. injecting 25% freshnes from a proven cross and take it from there..
sucses is around the corner and the path of selection is way SHORTER then when your practising scater bred ore more disireble known as Best to best breeding.. breeding...

What does everyone think about a dog that will scrath all day but not take hold,IS IT TRUELY COLD???Id say if it returns to combat its not cold...
If not cold, how could the dog be game(if gameness is the will to dominate)???
Can they dominate with out taking hold??? Hmmm cold??cur?? or Ill go with a differnt diffenition of gameness..
Will to be dominated sounds fit for this catagory...
