Make it so your main wheels are adjustable and put adjustable guide rollers/wheels for the edge of the belt.

Dude Your not a millmaker sorry but you are going to have a mess. and you are going to spend more than you have to being cheap. I am just telling you I have been making them a while and you dont got a clue! Slow it !!! HA I see some one else has been hoodwinked what ever the dog should be able to ull any mill. dont worry about a little bit of friction, The free spin fad was put on bu R .L. to premote "Free condition dog" what ever when a dog is walking he pulls when he runs the bike he pulls you want him to pull time not skip along to try and keep up couse the damn mill is spinning so fast the dog is skiping along singing, No wonder the dog could work 2 hrs on the mill lol. Build a mill that will stay on track dont worrie about hey spins you get the dog will break it in, But to be honest I think you should take that 200$ you saved up to build one with and buy a bike your dog would allready start to look good by now!

agree with triplej...the slat mill is quite the undertaking but it can be done...i built my first one just pretty much winging it...looking at pictures etc..etc.. it was a train wreck....but i had enough parts to rip it down and start again....the real key is square and flush...tru and accurate measurements...an 1/8" here and an 1/8" there and the mill is crap...regardless of how nice it looks...i used go-kart wheel halves with a 5/8" hub...worked fine on the second go around....US1

that is pretty much why i did my first one...just to see if i could...the first was crap but the second worked really well....and then i phased out of the slat mills all together....but give it a whiel and see how it works...best of luck...US1
