If you were gonna base your a bloodline off a dog would you choose a low ability cur with a very nice ped or a very good dog with a trash ped? Neither isn't an option lol

I dont think its BS? But maybe I missed something lol. Id rather have a good dog with trash ped. Doesnt matter if a piece of paper says the dog is good if the dog itself is not. IMO!

Neither! If he's well bred but cold who's to say he has any of the traits to pass along. And on the other hand maybe the trash ped is a fluke and can never be re created. Jmo

  6. Obviously the good dog is the choice. But, like was already said, your may not go far with it.

If u don't like it don't participate, ur on here just like we are right? There is a reason I asked this but I want to get others opinions on this topic first

I've always believed in best to best. Now if you gonna tell me you have a double bred granddaughter of Ch. Midnight Cowboy that was a low ability cur I might have to scratch my head on that HAHAHA. In all seriousness though, for me best to best has always been good to me.

I will always go with the better producing dog. the individual performance of the dog has little barring on me. the way a dog shows dont allways match up with it ability to throw good bulldogs. sometimes the goose made of shit witt lay golden egs.

What I have seen is most of the time even if the dog with the great ped is a low end game plug you will still be better than a high end dog from trash. the dog will throw what his line is for the most part. if he is from great dogs most likely he will produce better than a Great dog from trash. you just aint put the dog from trash to prove he is trash. do you understand if your dg is from high end match dogs most likely he will throw how he is bred iff all his brother and sire and dame and gr and so on were just fair he will throw just fair. but he would not have a great ped if he was from fair now would he? But you should ALLWAYS cull down from him, and only breed the very best of them to the best to keep his strain strong. and just use that Trash dog to see how good your good ones are LOL

I would go with the better ped cur over the scatter bred winner or champ. Its going to be too hard to find a direction to breed that dog. It would be better to take the cur and breed back to the better stuff in its ped.

Neither. Both of them. #1 over #2..vice-versa...there have been many greats going in either direction. I doubt there is a definitive answer to this type of question.

    ONLINE PEDIGREES - Access Denied

use this ped as an example....very top is as game a family of dogs as there is...solid foundation of performers and producers....bred to the huckleberry/molly bee stuff to gain some mouth and finish...chingy started off very well, worth breeding then checked up later in life...luckily before he was bred to another solid family of performers and producers...the holly bitch was a fair bitch but had horrible chain habits....so the two parents ended up being a cur bred to a fair bitch with bad chain habits....what came out was this male....zero bad habits on the chain...an easy keeper...swam in the deep water four different times and two of those swimming events were marathons going over two hours....
odds were he would pick up some bad chain habits...be a rough cur like his pops...maybe lasting a little longer but a cur still the same...but something lines up and he is a deep game dog, hard mouthed, rough and smart....a real screamer...one you have to go check the chain to see if he is still there...real quiet...
after seeing how the parents turned out....i would think this breeding may have not taken place....but i am glad that it did....US1

Good responses and J I agree with your post. I would rather breed a good dog from good dogs but in still circumstance with no other options I would rather breed the bad dog with good genetics in there somewhere than a freak who is not gonna reproduce himself

It depends on where you live and what resources you have access to you......

Say you cant get good stock or trust the ped on this low end cur, then your losing money at showtime. If your breeding a line of dogs you got two things in your favour ie time and money. Some aint that lucky. Id take the good box dog and go coast to coast taking your money for two years. Then with these funds Id be putting the feelers out for other grown box dogs/bitches that will destroy all and sundry. In them two years odds are that these winning trash will have a some scatterbred whelps which you get a family to rear. Then you school and select. All the time grabbing all the winning trash that folks are keen to dump......

Five years later folks will be talking about this guy that keeps winning with unkown dogs. Hell when the phone starts to ring asking about pups and bloodlines, my kids will make up some names and tales and sell the trash out door.

That gentlemen IS the game we are in.........bullshit n bulldawgs.

agree with that 100...i owned the chingy dog and yea looked to be an ace at first, hunted with a dog who later became a ch.....ch. cabollo...and he refused to come across but didnt stop hunting. did an outstanding breeding and produced some of the best dogs to look through a collar....i would go with the well bred dog theres a art to breeding dogs sticking with a family of dogs that throw high percentages. some dogs just dont throw nothing regardless of how they are.

One point id like to make......breedings within a family increases the chances of getting the same. But what is to say that your gunna beat my trash on show night. Your well bred low ability dog wont make it out after the show. The breeding of the PAST aint helping in the PRESENT. All your are assured of is that you will keep producing dead game losers and keep giving me money. Whereas the trash in the dog that just finished your hopes will keep winning over the game plugs your feeding. The trash in the my dogs PAST hasnt hindered him in the present. But as long as he is bred to similar top end trash which has performed regularly there is more than evens chance that he will produce.

This method has been tested in short order in EUROPE and has proved fruitful......

Now dont get me wrong I favour a loose bred family providing that they win in the PRESENT. But basing a line around a low performing animal from a great line might be a huge waste of time. The poor performance could be the line telling you it has run its course. Breeding game dogs is fine but thats no substitute for winning.

Maybe winning dogs are not as deep game as this well bred dogs but they wil have a greater chance to breed on my yard as they are still alive. That is the difference between CAMPAIGNING a winning box dog and BREEDING a deep game dog from proven stock. Maybe that limp useless compost feeder thats just got planted in a ditch was a shadow of theformer great line or wasit that hes was beaten by a fit stronger dog thats ushering in a new era that will last four generations...........

Even the best line will ulitmately whither and need to be refreshed........and just may be youll need a little Gr CH TRASH in your line.......

    YIS
