In the house as puppies then to the yard and back to the house when old. But my daughters my five year old the most helps feed and clean. But my children are around them alot i believe it gives a dog more confidence. My son helps sometimes now when he s not being cool lol teenagers.

Dont have kids but children really help socialize puppies and I try to have my puppies around as many kids and different people as possible in their developmental stages to give them confidence and toughen up the mental side of the dog as well. Never owned a house dog though, puppies start off indoors just not the house and as they get older get a chain set up. Not opposed to having a house dog just never had one

If the dogs can't tolerate my kids, then they have no place on my yard. JMO

  9. A good bit of what I do with my dogs in this respect depends on the individual dog as well as my goals with that dog.

Being that I live by myself, it is fairly easy for me to rotate dogs through the kennels/chains and in the house. They typically all get a few hours in the house hanging out with me with one of my adult dogs being left loose inside overnight. Young dogs that are a true pain the butt won't be inside unless I can give them my undivided attention.

For the most part, I do not allow just anyone to touch/talk to/interact with my dogs. The one exception is a young dog I have that has displayed abnormal human aggression since she was a pup and that's simply because I am trying to socialize the heck out of her. IF my dogs are out around other people it is purely obedience, they need to stay with me and be neutral to everyone else unless a threat is posed. All in all, I have ended up with well rounded dogs that are pretty quick to step up for me but are super stable as a good bulldog should be (the young dog not included).

I guess I am in a different situation than most: me and my dogs are the family. No one else.

  10. We got mutts inside, outside, above and below,,, it's a dam zoo here. No dogs allowed on the couch or in any bedrooms they sleep on the floor like a dog. Chains or kennel depends on the dog, either one is the same to us we don't consider it yankee animal cruelty, we think that those who do are ridiculous. We keep 2 pets in the house with us, no other dog comes in the house except them. One is mine, my fatty-fat-fat baby bitch, and the other is a son of hers raised as a pup by my daughter and considered her dog.

Here she is with her dog Sheik (3/4 Eli-1/4 Heinzl) above and with miss fatty-fat-fat below making as a mattress.

  11. A couple of the dogs in the yard. These don't know what the inside of a house looks like and never will.

I definitely consider my dogs "family dogs" although they do do some chain time daily. I've got eight here right now and they are all on a tight rotation between chain, house and crate. It is a requirement that all dogs are rock solid with the family or they don't make the cut.
