Hog Hunting with Bulldogs in CA

is it legal? Im looking at the CA Fish and Game Website and I cant find any difinitive answer.. Some onw let me know

 

I called a CA Game and Fish officer in my area (Humboldt Co.) and he said that it is strictly illegal.. You cant even use a knike or a spear, only centerfire, muzzleloader, or archery equipment can be used.. LAME.. The state lists them as a game species (The only state in the country I believe), but the season is open all year long and there is no limit..

 

Im not sure about Humboldt but there are many hunters using catch dogs in CA.

 

That game warden you talked to dont know is stuff you can use dogs to hog hunt 3 dogs pre person. And you need to read up on the laws so your better informed.

 

I didnt talk to a game warden i talked to a guy thats been runnin dogs for years. I dont hunt with dogs

 

i heard san diego county inland is starting to become where its at for hog hunting, but the terrain is rough out there.

 

Ive been out hunting a few times with my dogs out by fort hunter liggett. Never had any problems with the game wardens

 

Its done A LOT and there A LOT to hunt I'll just leave it there

Its not illegal to hunt pigs with catch dogs in ca.

However, it IS illegal to knife them. You have to either shoot yhem or use bow.

I would use a pistol personally....
