wow alot of help their diet is about to change we do feed good dry food when we're on dry the dogs are about to go back to the yard from the heated kennels and they'll get their bones again ,, use nyla bones all the time , i recentally seen the float soak food don't like it at all they eat it all to quick kinda slobby about it ,, you might be right about bacteria but we wash the bowls out so often i wouldn't think so well water maybe, this dog is gooing on 7 and has big teeth ya just might notice it more her half brother is 3 and he has some build up , had a bleach accident but sounds logical ,might be right about the raw i was putting 7-9 different things in it it worked i guess but twards the end of season we went to 52 dollar a bag for 28 lbs and that worked 2 ,, not a chance i would try electric brush or nail cutter ,, i think it was judge nathon who saw this 9 year old male i had right after he had his big teeth scraped and polished lifted his lips up and he said ohhh or wow or something it can make a final decision between 2 dogs go your way so i think

i dont want to get in a math debate with you benthere lol. i base my stuff on what i know of poultry and what is done in those cases. you may think 2 teaspoons is alot, but chlorine actually evaporates quickly in UV light and that is the reason for the large dose of it im guessing. http://www.harrisoncountyhealth.com/water_disinfection.htm here is a ratio of proper chlorine to water for human consumption's that could work for dogs also. keep in mind that 50-100ppm is still in safe consumption zones, but lower ppm's are all that is needed to sanitize water. in this case though i believe the 2 teaspoons per gallon are needed to last and prevent bacteria growth in the water days from when the water was first given. i would rather just keep a smaller water bowl. them 5 gallon buckets are just collection buckets of filth if not cleaned consistently. i wouldn't ever use them, im happy with the smaller one i have that i clean out every 2-3 days.

Hardluck I wouldnt be joking. Some of these around here you could dissect and they wouldnt make a move but the others dont like the sound of a spray bottle when I spray thier ears for flies. It would probably be a battle to use an electric brush or clippers. Start them out with them as a pup would be ok.

I have a 9yr old male that has no tarter. He has been fed kibble all his life and gets raw bones from time to time.

Genetics also plays a huge role as well.

The toothpaste for dogs is formulated for dogs and is perfectly fine to use. With human toothpaste he fluoride is toxic.

Great post. There just has not been enough research to support the claims.

i really do believe in a all raw diet. the only crunching is on the chicken quarter and a egg lol. most of the time the dog just swallows the chicken once it breaks a few bones down to allow it to be swallowed. the rest of the food is kind of licked up off the bowl. with kibble there is a constant crunch and food is always left on the gum lines towards the molars minutes to hours after the feed. on raw there really isnt any real chance for a real build up like with kibble. i feed kibble in the past brushed maybe 2-3 times a month and there was always build up. today i feed raw and brush the same and there has never been any build up.

the evidence i feel is in the wild predators like foxes, coyotes and wolves. they dont suffer any dental diseases unless they break a tooth on there prey while hunting besides that they dont have issues with there teeth. most of them are very clean. maybe im just stuck on the raw fad, but i can say i seen the differences of the two feeds personally.

tug of war and spring pole with rope also aid in removing tartar.

When I bleached five gallons it was the reservoir I took out to the dogs bowls which were around a gallon themselves. Our skeeter problems get really bad at certain times of year and only takes 24hr to get larva laid and in then ingested...

Now I keep only two dogs and both house pets. They get filtered water from the fridges water spout. I go through some filters doing this, but man I got a 13yr old dog that means thw world to the kids and I. Anything that would prolong his life and let him be healthy while alive is my goal.
