true pit bull or not

hi guys im new to the forum. i have a question i got a dog from a guy he look like a pit but has ears like a hound he look like sluggo but is white n black will up load pic in a sec any way to find out. the guy has some good dogs seen both parent but he just got da ears but is very game

the pictures dont work, but you can never be for sure judging from a picture

 

You can only be sure if you have the pedigree. No dog, and especially no puppy, is game untill tested which is illegal. Just call him a pitmix if he fits the pitbull-type description, or if bsl is a big thing call him a boxer/lab mix.

 

he is a pup still has not been tested which i know is illegal he just dont like no animal idk why he always in da house just went to threaded chain outside

 

I would just call him a pitbull mix. There is no way to tell unless u got papers. Also do some reading on the term Game, you don't want to just throw that word around on this forum.

I don't have a ped on my dog so I call her an "unknown" on this site. Even though I know what she looks like.

Its like getting an antique civil war gun without papers. It could be real but without documentation for all you know it could be a replica.

 

Who cares. Call it a pit mix, fix it, train it and treat it like a dog. No way to know without the dog's history.

 

Papers don't mean a thing. It can just as easily be a mix dog with papers as a pure dog with papers. Mix vs pure doesn't mean anything either. Pit dogs are a hodge podge of different dogs. They should only be judged on performance.

Good advise especially the fix it part of the quote. I have a pit I got from the back of guys pick-up. He is fixed and is my house dog. I don't expect it to do nothing but be a dog. Do your research on the breed and when or if you are ready, you can move to buy a game-bred dog. Just know not everybody can handle a game-bred dog.
