How valuable is a dog with no papers?

When did I ever state this? I'd feed a proven worker, be it one with papers, one without, one that has won conformation shows, or one that hasn't stepped foot into the conformation ring. I never stated a conformation champ can't come off proven stock, proven worker, or a proven producer of workers now did I?

 

How much are papers with no dog?

 

papers and bloodlines don't make a dog . each dog is a individual . the dog has to be whatever you want him to be for him to be worth anything . you can get a dog from 2 proven producers . but that does'nt mean he will be worth feeding . after he shows you what he can do and what you like . then the pedigree is worth looking at . until then that piece of paper does'nt mean a damn thing .

You didn't have to say it directly, it was strongly implied.

I don't know any other way to take that statement as it was said. You basically stated the reason you would take a hog dog over a confo dog is because they come from proven stock, which implies that confo dogs do not come from proven stock. You see what I'm getting at? You may not have meant it that way, but it certainly sounded like it.

Anyway, there are PLENTY of examples of conformation dogs that are off proven stock AND/OR proven themselves. Just sayin...

There was box dogs way befor papers! out of my whole yard i only have papers on one hound. well, now that i think about it the papers arnt even his they are of his lil brother. i could give a fuck less about papers as long as i know how they are bred and how they perform

 

I think there is a misconception here about REGISTERED papers and NOT knowing how a dog is bred or having any records of how a dog is bred.

Back in the old days, there was no registry's but most dogmen kept there own records of breeding's and bloodlines. Dogs back then were mainly bought on the owner and the dogs reputation.

Now days every thing needs to be authenticated by a REGISTERED paper, hence why majority of people are so enamored with papers and most dogs are bought because of what it says on the paper then the accomplishments of the actual dog or breeder in itself.

When a dog man says all his dogs do not have papers , that doesn't mean he doesn't know how they are bred or doesn't have any records of them, it just means his dogs are not registered with any type of registry.

Like a Old Timer once told me about Registry's , he said "why am I going to pay someone too tell me what I already know". LMAO

Papers dont make the dog.
I dont mind a good honest unpapered breeding aslong as your honest and dont just put 2 dogs together without thinking it threw and also having a good reason to why you are breeding. Yea having papers may give you and advantage of selling the pups for more money BUT its NOT about the money its about the dogs.

 

i bet most of yall asked for papers & registered your dogs lol. & more then a few seen the papers before you even seen what they came from.

 

i'm looking at a pup now who's sire is redboy/colby w/ adba papers. dam is out cross from a 2XGRCH sire. she is REAL game w/ no papers.

You Are Right BEN! I Sold One pup out of my Blankinship / Turtlebuster stuff, Now Here is a guy who wants to start out right he wants good stock. So I let one go, Off What I think will be all you can want in a dog. The FIRST THING They Asked is Do I have the papers on the pup LOL. I meen It kinda pissed me off They Clearly Know How the pup is bred they can look it up any time, But They allmost act like the pup is not going to be any good unless I gave them a 7 gen ped from the adba. It allmost put a stop to my having an open yard. I havent sold a puppy in 19 years and then that boy knew both the sire and dame and he seen both hunt so he didnt give a shit he just wanted his pup. But these kids they are something else they have it all fucked up. They only care about the breeding. And that to me is NO dog man to place the value on a dog just couse his breeding thats shit! The old timers never gave papers they say take that pup home try him if he is good call me, That sets alot up for dishonest peds but it kept the dumbasses away.
