But that 120 days can be on the mainland. Not in quarrantine. LOL The 5 day or less you would need someone on the mainland to do the checklist for you. If so yes the youngest animal you would be able to get is a 10 month old. However it would not have to be quarantined if the 5 day or less checklist is done.

Like I said at my work we have a HUGE military base here. And we get the paperwork to ship animals all over the world. So I am familar with the import/export requirements.

Puppies and Kittens: Due to the minimum amount of time needed to prepare a puppy or kitten to meet the requirements of the 5-Day-Or-Less program, a puppy or kitten will be about 10 months of age by the time the preparations are completed. Puppies and kittens not able to meet all of the requirements for the 5-Day-Or-Less program will be quarantined for 120 days.

when i asked garner about doing the check list that ment doing a rabies test and it would take a long time like a few months alos he said that hed have to charge me some thing like 100 bucks a month because he would have the dog around his house and having the dog get usto people and so my total price if this would be done would be 1500 for dog 300 or more for shipping dog to honolulu the a 100 more for getting dog to maui and the boarding fee he would chare me for the dog to stay at his place till rabies test and vaccs were don would be 1500 thats like 3500 i said no thanks he got mad and hung up on me

 

Well that would be his choice. And I would not blame him for charging a boarding fee. $100 a month is not that expensive when you are feeding and cleaning up after a dog. Boarding fees at a facility is MUCH more than that.

The 120 day peroid begins once Kansas State University Rabies Laboratory gets the blood to do the FAVN. But the process begins before that. As you can see via the checklist.

Regardless when you live in HI either you pay to have the animal quarrantined once it gets to HI or you start the process on the mainland and you pay the breeder to do it. It will cost you either way. And it is no one's fault. That is one of things you have to deal with when living in HI and trying to get a dog.

Either you suck it up and do it or get a dog from a breeder in HI.
