You are probably right about what cops would do... Who knows what they would do... Juno is microchipped just because I figured if she ever got out it would just make the chances a little better that I find her. Microchipping for thieving I don't think is a good idea though. I can't wait until one day they can implant a micro GPS chip! Now that would be worth it!! LOL.

All 4 of my dogs live inside the house so they would have to break into my house to get them. But yea I see what you mean. I know what she is worth to me personally but she is more than likley not worth much to a thief. Has to be worth something to risk getting shot in the head to steal her. :P

Back in the day some used to put pennies under the dogs skin. Keeping the penny info in their files at home.

WOW ok i don't mean to be negative or anything...... but i think microchips and tattoos are most effective if your dog gets free and is recovered by an honest person or reputable agency. It's more of a point of contact for someone who intends to return the animal from the beginning.

I am not sure what type of dog thieves are around some people, but the ones around me aren't going to take a dog anywhere it can get scanned for a microchip. And also the only way i could see a tattoo working is if YOU personally catch this person with the animal. if a dog shows up at an animal control or something, how will the registration number get them in contact with you??

Anyways, i do use microchips on my pets but it's not for dog thieves. Have a nice day! :)
