Diamond Natural VS. Taste Of The Wild

I want to switch my dogs from Blue Buffalo, to either Diamond Naturals or Taste Of The Wild. If I was to feed Diamond I'd feed my APBT pup Large breed puppy lamb and rice formula and then when shes older the Extreme Athlete formula and my two older mixed breeds the Large breed lamb and rice formula. If they were to eat TOTW they'd all get one of the grain-free formulas. The only reason I'm debating between the two is, because the Diamond is way cheaper and still seems to have good quality ingredients. So, do you think their is really a huge difference between the two quality-wise? I could afford to feed them all the TOTW, so should I just stop being cheap? lol Or would you suggest diamond for the house dogs, and go with the TOTW for my show/working pup?

(I've been using the search tool looking for opinions of the two brands, but I wanted to get more up-to-date info)

    Thanks for looking!

Just go with TOTW it's one of the best kibbles no doubt. Wouldn't trust diamond to much because of the past issues. You love your dogs man so give emm the best you can afford they deserve it

Totw a is made by diamond and so is 4health and chicken soup. I wouldn't feed regular diamond to a bully, naturals seems ok but l would go with 4health. Chicken soup is good and l have seen it for bout 35 five bucks. I feed Totw high prairie and my 2 love it. They range in price from bout 30 to 45 bucks just depends on how u wanna spend. u should check out dogfoodanalysis.com

Totw is a very high quality kibble. I feed the Taste of the Wild Wetlands Canine Formula with Roasted Wild Fowl is a grain-free formula. My dogs absolutely love it. They did not care for "Blue, Eucanuba, or NB.
http://www.petflow.com has it for $45.99 and will ship free on orders over $65.00.

I lost two dogs to diamond naturals two years... switched to raw and have never looked back. I would def say TOTW as it is a grain free feed. If you want to do better, look into natures variety. Good luck

I feed diamond naturals chicken and rice. I has worked great so I consider other foods but haven't switched. If it ain't broke. I can only speak for myself. I think feed has much to do with the activity level etc. I also think that 4health n chicken soup are good but loose out in pound for price. Obviously TOTW is supposed to surpass all those brands. IMHO I would start out with the cheapest grain free n go from there, if the coat is dull n runny shits then step it up a notch, find what works for ur dog because there is a ton of feeds and a ton of opinions on this and people have succes with different ones. Just a suggestion. Good luck.

had terrible results with every diamond natural dogfood i tried did. had very good results with totw and thats what im using still. if money is tight i would recommend chicken soup puppy formula, works well for adults and pups.

i've been using diamond beef and rice for years, never had a problem. i think spending twice the money for something else is foolish.

its tore my dogs stomachs up, and it wasnt the switching of food. also their coats looked terrible not to mention all the deaths that have been associated with that dog food. works for some but not for me

my dogs shit turds as hard as golfballs and their coats are shiny. i've never had 1 problem with the beef and rice. the extreme athlete can be hard for them to digest, must be too rich. in the winter i supplement with beef fat for extra calories. i've used the lamb and chicken also but i think the beef works best and its the cheapest. i pay $20 with tax for a 40# bag. when i first started feeding it it was $10.60 for a 40# bag. those were the days, we were feeding 50+ dogs and going through a bag a day.

IMHO I think many times it is assumed that a dog needs super high protien/fat food - which can cause the shits and thus the nutrients are not digested. Had trouble with my bulldog puppy like this, used a feed with less fat in it. With Diasy, I use the normal feed and suppliment with natural fats as needed. I also give her more rest. The "feed keep" or something like that is where I picked up those tips.... helped me gain a greater understanding for nutrition, work, and rest. but this is just my 2 cents worth.

My experience is similar to the results that Benthere has expressed regarding shits n coats.

Like many people say it all depends on what works with your dogs system, exercise routine, and budget....trial and error is how you figure this out I guess:confused:

Been using Diamond chicken and rice and my dogs love it. Stool not runny, coats shiny and they are very healthy. Tried TOTW, little bit pricey when feeding numerous dogs.

Thanks for all of the replies! Sounds like I'll be switching them to TOTW. I don't feel comfortable feeding the Diamond now since it has so many bad reviews. At least TOTW is cheaper than Blue Buffalo and you get more pound wise.

science diet w/d and id isused in kennels. pretty low residue and doesnt upset the dogs stomach much. i wouldn't feed it personally though.

i say go with totw. haven't had the best luck with /diamond

Blue wilderness and totw are so close in nutritional value that if cost is an issue blue is usually cheaper.

I think it really just depends on the individual dog and what THEY do well on. I have Scarling on TOTW salmon because it's the only thing she seems to be able to eat without getting itchy. I had other dogs on it, and where Scarling does really well on it, some of the others.... not so much. I'd personally look at the individual dog and how they are doing and use that to judge whether a change is in order.
