If i switch counties will animal control still come after me?
They want to take my dog while they do an investigation. Supposedly a 10 year old girl saw him kill a stray cat. They want me to give them the dog and a statement. Im afraid once they get him i'll never get him back. I might move to Alameda County. Not the best county for a pit but wondering if changing counties would help anything. My attorney asked for a copy of the report from ac but they arent giving it to her. Thanks anyway

What County are you in? I also live in S Cal. And the HSUS around here is extremely lax.
I think I posted this before, but about 2 to 3 months ago. My neighbors dog got loose, came into my yard, and killed my daughters 6 month old Shi/poo. She was on her leash on one of those cork screws in the lawn 10' from the front door, for less than 3 minutes. My wife goes inside to grab something, and heard yelling outside. Well a bite from a 70 to 80lb shepard/chow mix, to a 8 lb shipoo. She died in about an hour. I go to talk to the neighbor, he says; "Not my dogs fault, he was just playing" I say; "listen its an animal, shit happens, just don't talk to me like Im an idiot." My daughters histerical, wife is a mess. So I call the HS so a report can be made, just in case this dog bites a kid or worse.
The moral of this long drawn out story is; The HS tells me there is nothing they can do but give him a warning about letting his dog run loose. Because my dog was in the front yard, and not behind a secure gate. They would not even site him, or make a report.

But He did pay for my Daughters dog!
If my bull dog ever gets loose. I am going to give him the same. "He was just playing" line.

san francisco: i JUST talked to a friend and his pit got a hold of the next door neighbor's cat in HIS own yard and killed it. the old lady wanted to press charges and the owner was given a choice: euthanize the dog or get sued. he euthed the dog. you must assume that YOU will not get the dog back. wierd that i just heard this from my friend today. you don't live in frisco do you?

    Yep. Its hear say.
If you give them your dog they will charge you hundreds of dollars. They will put him in quarantine to see if he is vicious. Then after him being around unstable barking dogs with gods knows who doing gods knows what, you will get you dog back - if you are lucky - Then he will be upset for being locked up for so long and may have kennel cough, etc.

Sounds like they need to spend the time and money on farrow cats. Oh wait. There is no money. That is where you come in. ;)

Just show up to court and tell the truth. This is still America.

Ima be honest, my dog would be moved and I would have a great reason ready (aka he died, he ran away and was never found, etc etc). Maybe i'm wrong, but I wouldn't hand my animal over :(

  9. agreed, get rid of the dog ASAP....

If anyone comes back, tell em you gave the dog away...They'll ask to who, and you tell em some friend of a friend who lives on a farm in another state.

They can't legally take your dog, unless you've been charged for a crime.

Thanks for the advice. Right now im in San Mateo County. He already has a dangerous dog tag so that makes it more tricky. Because of that If i tell them he died they want to actually see the body. I'll have to show you the email my attorney got from ac. Saying they thought i said i would bring the dog in on fri. Since i didnt bring him in i have no respect for ac and shes going to turn it over to the da. I havent been home much lately so i havent even seen ac come by the house. A couple days they came by twice. Im moving to the east bay i have a steady job so it doesnt matter where i live really. Anyway keep you posted, Thanks

i really doubt a/c from san mateo county will come looking for you or your dog in oakland, surely they have better things to do. is the dog chipped?? maybe if you just move to the east bay and lay low they won't make anything of it. i moved out of the bay area 20 years ago and one of the many reasons was that i wanted to be free to own as many dogs as i cared to and i didn't want neighbors or cops looking over my shoulder telling me what i could or could not do with them. good luck.
