I wouldn't need wellness core because I don't feed raw and was wondering if anyone had could recomend which one my dog should eat. He's a very active 9 1/2 year old amstaff that 57 lbs and neautered. If there's a better food out there other then wellness I'm willing to give that a try too

Weather or not you feed raw has nothing to do with why you should feed your dog a quality dog food such as any of the grain free variety. Core is a great food, so is Taste of the Wild and I think it may cost a little less than Wellness. This web site might help you find what your looking for. http://www.dogfoodanalysis.com/dog_food_reviews/index.php

Ok thanks. Thought that core was just for dogs that was on a raw diet. Thanks for the help

  4. If the dog was on a raw diet, most likely it would not be eating kibble, so what you said makes no sense.

Wellness puts out good foods, so does Merrick and Taste of the Wild. TOTW is great value for the cost. Then there are other foods like Timberwolf that are more pricey but are also excellent.

I thought that that brand was a supplement for dogs that eat raw. Now I know lol. I'm feeding him the wellness core now and he seems to like it. Will this food make him leaner?

He gets a 1hr and 15 min very fast paced walk every day during the week and some flirtpole a few days. On the weekend when I'm off work he gets a 1 hour walk in the morning and 1 at night. He got leaner since I added the flirtpole

  8. You can overfeed a dog with any food, so him getting leaner will depend on how you portion and how you exercise. You can create a fatty by giving too much of any brand.

Yeah I agree. How accurite r the guide lines on the back of the bag on how much to feed them? I was giving hime 1 1/2 cups in the morning then 1 1/2 at dinner I cut it down to 1 cup morning and 1 1/2 at dinner. Is that good or bad? He's not fat but has loose skin. I'm trying to figure out the weight he should be to keep him lean and healthy. Thanks for the help
