    Just curious, how's he bred?

  5. The best thing to do is just encourage him alot, slowly bring him around people and show him that its ok by praising him.Kinda build up that trust. You sort of have to be like the pack leader in every situation.Mind you it will take some time.I had a redboy/carver dog like that, had to find a time willing family for her...totally not my type of dog.

If this dog has not met any people other than his owner or has not been anyplace other than home, it's going to be an uphill battle.

The optimum time for socialization -- the time he should meet as many people as possible and go as many different places as possible and experience many different things is between 7 and 16 weeks.

There is a great, inexpensive little book called "How To Raise a Puppy You Can Live With" that explains the importance of socialization and what you should be doing at each week from birth to 6 months to get the most well-adjusted dog.

Yes, some dogs are genetically shy and while they will never be as outgoing as a normal dog, following these socialization ideas will make a pup as good as he CAN be.

I have had shy dogs before but not like this!...I have about ten dogs on my yard and none of them have been this shy nor do I walk all of them....they get plenty of exercise by way of a treadmill, flirtpole, and springpole ect, none of my dogs are around alot of ppl unless I'm going to a convention or something....just asking for others opinions....I'll just sit on him and see wat happens...hopefully he comes around by the times he's fully grown

I wouldn't worry if he doesn't come around after you try what people have sugested, If he doesn't wanna know people let him be. just my opinion.

I do belive the inbreeding is what does it to them. I had one that wouldn't even come up to me when I was facing her.Turn your back on her she would be a normal pup start lickin' you on the back of your head.. As long as you were not lookin' she was cool. That was one weird actin' dog, won't forget her just cause of that wierd shit.

    Then it's probably genetic.

Sad, but, yeah, these get bred all the time...I do hear about the great game dogs that you had to peel out of the back of their doghouses...kinda sad, really....but, carry on....

I have rescued dogs like this (adult dogs) who have been set in there ways... negelected,.. beat.. ect. and have successfully turned them 180 degree's around.

and the best way I found to re hanbilitate is to take that pup out for LONG walks for a good hour or two,.. maybe past a park so the pup can see people from a distance and its not a ball of energy because u have been walking it, makes for less reaction.

or if you have guest's over put the pup in a wire crate and set him in the corner with a nice comfy bed for him so he is able to see your friends and watch them and see they are nothing to be afraid of, and just tell everyone hes a little shy and just to pretend he is not there.

and then after he gets used to this, couple months later, maybe you can get a guest's to give him doggie treats through the crate :)
