If you lost the passion for gamedogs should you sell up and fuck off? or just take a breather?

Probably goes for everything in life.

sell out, if the dogs are going to suffer because someone isnt interested in them. If not, and you only mean talking about it, well, keep it to yourself, soul searching time for someone. Call Dr Phil

Depends if you realy think youve had enough. I went down to two dogs then down to one pet, but i still had an interest in them it just wasnt practical or smart when i moved too a bsl place.
Then about a year ago one day at work i came back to here after three years off and it gave me the itch again and it only gets stronger the longer i look outside and only have the one dog. Practicality reighns supreme and im still keen it just aint smart living right in the town im in and having a few dogs.
So it is all about preperation now, trying to open my options and eventually buy a block not far from where i am now, the dogs will come after.
I guess i will have to wait and see what happens by then.
Besides my close friend dogs are better than 90% of people so i cant see it waning away for the time being lol.

ADDED ON; I def miss the feeling of coming home in the afternoon and cracking a beer and cruise outside to a few excitable dogs who are allways happy to see you.

Find a young bloke who is keen and has the passion in the place, mentor him, guide him and show him the right ways, share with him the knowledge you hold in your years of hard work and experience and maybe you'll find a second wind in your passion for the dogs...;):)

I rushed into dogs, went from 1 dog to 13 in the same year. I did that for a few years, was forced to take a break. Took a break for 4 years, and just researched the whole time. Got back into dogs real heavy, but with a different agenda. Now it's to the point where I can't see myself not having a couple dogs, ever. The only time I get bored is when I'm talking to someone who is ignorant, hard headed and/or money hungry. These dogs are definitely a lifestyle and not a hobby for me, base my life around my kids and the dogs. JMO

That is very true to a T. But owning these dogs in 2010 is more than just being a dogman. You have to be a true fancier first and love them with all your heart or you will never be successful in them. But then you have to lawyer, vet, hardworker cause food ain't cheap, hygenist to keep a good yard, match maker, scientist, researcher, landscaper, laborer (building houses) and then game to the core to do all these jobs and still have a life without letting the bulldogs take over it. As a real dogman you have multiple jobs and duties, this is isn't a game as most call it. It is a lifestyle, it becomes you and you become it. It is hard some days to spend all the time and money it takes to raise these animals properly. I know one thing now that I didn't know before, a small well put together yard of great animals is more enjoyable than a big yard of bulldogs. I have learned to appreciate what I own more because my space is so limited and so is my time. I enjoy the dogs more keeping four dogs than when I had 10 plus. Not always about making the next legend now but more about enjoying what I own and giving them the time the deserve to become legends. I think there is a great injustice to having a lot of dogs compared to the small yard, evalution is more precise and I understand those four animals better than ever than having one, two, maybe three greats on a yard of twenty. I have four superb bulldogs and I know them like the back of my hand. I work 60hours a week, full time student, father and a husband since my yard has been reduced my family plays a more important role in these dogs. My daughters cry when I take the dogs back to the yard, we trade them in out of the home life. But don't get it twisted, we own bulldogs and that is the first rule of the home.

Take a breather and evalute what your goals are in what you own and what you are doing with your animals. Only you have the answer to this and it is in your, you will find it but don't make the mistake of getting rid of the good ones because things are hard right now. Shrink that yard!

Many of us have lives like that. I got 2 kids, 2 step kids, 5 dogs and work 50-60hrs a week. Some how some way, I manage. And many i know have it it much worse than I do with 3x the amount of dogs. That's why it's a lifestyle and not a hobby. JMO

It would be absolutely impossible for me to own even one dog if my wife wasn't on board with helping me feed and take care of my dogs because of my job. But no, I don't get tired of talking bulldogs ever.

My wife has asked me if I'll ever get tired of having these dogs. I told her
"I'll be tiered of you before I'm tiered of my dogs". She also hates it when
someone else wants to talk about bulldogs with me cause I get excited about
it. OH YEAH!, The E.P.T test said we have A baby on the way and if shes pregnant
the baby is getting his/her new puppy too. That has already been decided for her.:)
