one or twice a day?

What are peoples opinions on feeding once or multiple times a day? I have heard many RAW folks say one large meal, and others say break it up into two or three meals to keep the metabolism at an even pace throughout the day. Also depends on the Dog and whether it's in working mode or just being kept in a state of general well-being. Interested in hearing what people think.

 

I like to break the meals up. The dog is only gonna take in what it needs from the meal and just shit out the rest as waste.

 

i feed once in the late afternoon/early evening. water available at will during the day

 

I think this one is personal preference. I feed once a day also, just easier we feed in the evening to help replenish while sleeping except during the winter, a couple times a week we feed fat in the morning and then feed kibble at night to make sure they have the energy to keep theirselves warm.

 

i feed around 5-6am and around 5-6pm.

 

I feed around 7am after roadwork and cool down and again around 7pm

 

pretty much my schedule too.

 

I feed once a day at around 9 pm. If we have a long day of hiking or some other strenuous exercise, I will feed a couple raw eggs, a tad bit of tuna or sardines, and a dollop of peanut butter for breakfast.

 

twice a day here mid morning and evening

 

I feed raw 9am and then again at 5pm..

 

2 a day for maintenance, once daily during keep

 

Raw feed once a day anytime between 5-9 p.m which is usually after our work outs.

 

once a day and on rest periods no regular time.
On training days around 6 pm

 

Once a day and twice on keep.

 

thanks for the replies, i have been trying to figure out something going on with my house dog, it goes as follows; morning walk, little bit of time on the slat mill, twenty minutes on the spring-pole, get a little pant going, cool down, feed ,usually some Orijen kibble or some Abady fresh frozen raw mix... dinner time usually a whole frozen turkey neck at about 5pm, maybe a handful of kibble as a snack about an hour or so after turkey neck, all good seems OK and then at night (he sleeps at the floor next to the bed) like always at about 4am I hear him, it sounds like he has all this saliva in he mouth, almost like a cow chewing on it's cudd, it's not like a pukey spit up more like a really wet gummyness in his mouth and maybe a slight cough or two, if that makes any sense at all...LOL... kinda at a loss, i don't think it's an allergy, but im thinking it might have something to do with time between feedings or the mixing of raw and kibble, a bit of a stomach acid imbalance maybe... any suggestions, otherwise he is healthy strong and has a good appetite...

 

nothing wrong with feeding kibble and raw together. it could have to do with dehydration.

 

I feed once a day in the early evening 5-6 pm .. water is given freely but cut off after 7 pm.

 

will make it harder to get ur dog completely empty ....

 

i've done both in past.the only difference wuld b if u feed 2 small meals ur dog MITE stay up at nite barkn cuz he's hungry.only had that happen to me wit 1 dog.i then wuld feed him once a day @ 6pm n he wuld sleep through the nite

 

Adults once a day, pups 2x's a day.........when I feed depends on my schedule.........
