My pup Silas got his ears cropped, no bell, close in size to a medium. I have tried just about everything to get them to stand and only 1 partially stands. I'm just seeing if anyone else had these issues. He is 4 1/2 months old right now.

If anyone else had these issues what did you do to get them to stand?

that crop is so short that all you need is time. dont worry. it will come. what you need to to is worry less about the look and worry more about working on building the connection and confidence in the dog. these years are important and will shape the dog more than you know. remember genetics plays the role in physical development and the only control you have is in the mental growth. these next 14 months mean more than the rest of his/her life.

I have already posted them up for like 3 weeks off and on. Nothing has worked so far

The length of his ear is about 2 inches tall, for some reason it just looks smaller. His ears standing up is on the bottom of my list with him. This is just something I haven't had experience with.

all good bro. trust me, i went through this for the first month before it hardened. it will happen. the crop is too short to worry. give it time. in the future i might suggest natural but you care about your dog and thats whats most important

The ears need to be taped if u want them to stand up. That's a pretty long crop if is 2 inch from tip the the top of the head. The only time u don't tape the ears is when u have a fight or a battle crop done. The longer the crop the longer u need to keep the ears tape. And the ear do get better as the dog gets older.

Glue popsicle sticks to the ears, put the sticks along the back of the long side of the ears from the base to the tip, note: shorten the popsicle stick to the length of the ear. If the ears hurt the dog will not want to try to stand them up. Give it time, he could still be in pain.

The ears need to be massaged, stretched, then stretched into the taping. Taping can take as long as 7 months in some dogs. Don't give up!
