Deer antlers if you can get some. Sometimes I will take a toy that they lost or have no interest in and put peanut butter on/in it, mostly those big beef bones once they clean them off. Mine like rope toys, and they keep their teeth clean.

I don't buy my dogs stuffed anything, not that they don't get one of my kids stuffed animals form time to time. I have read artciles about the stuffing inside can be fire-retardant(sp?) and harmful. The ropes I get at petsmart in the doggy toys section, probably could save money and make your own. I when I had small dogs we used to get raw hides, don't anymore. They are nasty, all wet and can choke. I use the natural bones again from a pet store. You can get antlers from a pet store too, but they will cost you. If you hunt or hike get them that way. Any animal hide will do if you can get them, just cow is sold more commercially. Just what I prefer to do, my apbt mutt is a house dog and yes she has destroyed stuff before that she gets so I know what you mean.

Hog wash... a dog can choke on nething... Every dog i've ever owned played with a hide @ some point or another with no problems...

I've had problems with dogs chewing on there houses and causing blockages but NEVER ne problems using a hide.

BTW im talking about this type of hide, not rawhide sticks from petsmart

I use old cotton t-shirts tied in a knot. We also have a Kong, but I'm not sure how long it will last.

I was going to say a soda bottle with cap on but my dog came to me with this habit and its fckn annoying. He turns all our drinks into sprinklers.

Man o man do my dogs LOVE empty water bottles. I take the caps and rings off tho because I've seen one of mine swallow a cap whole after he chewed it off...

The the OP, I would recommend the raw meaty bones like Buck E. Mine go ape shit for that stuff. The hide on the otherhand, see if it works for you. If I left out hide for them to chew, they would eat the hair so that doesnt work for my particular situation but it might for yours.

Please tell me you are joking...

i'd prolly go for the knee. i know sometimes those big long weight-bearing bones of the larger animals like cattle can chip/break a dog's teeth.

not to mention there's lots of fun tissue in the knee for gnawing. just keep an eye on ur dog while they chew it to make sure they're not a "gulper".

but long rib bones are fun if ur dog is a gulper.

just pick up a few things and have fun with it. :)
