I know chain and axle is the best way of doing things but I am interested if anyone has enclosures in their basement, garage or open areas. Don't like the idea of a pup on a chain in the yard in the colder months. Post pics of what has worked for you in the past.

my dog lives in the dining room... she comes and goes as she pleases and she sits by the door when she is ready to do her business. most of her time is spent curled up under our feet sleeping lol

Fair but trying to do that in a house with 2 100+ rotties might not result well :o

I'm not sure what they are called but they look like this: O-- it's an o-ring attatched to a large screw with a O- ring on the end of it, I attacatch a swivel to the solid O piece off the screw part (can get them at any hardwear store). I screw them into the raffters in my basement. I'll take a picture of them later after work. By having then up above it limits the torque a dog can do by lunging. I only use the basement set-ups to house dogs that shouldnt be out in public for a while and/or if the temp dips down too cold outside and I have to bring them in.

It's a whelping box without the side rails, I have 2 of them, one has been made into a temporary dog house and the other one is in the welping pen also pictured. They are actually pretty big about 4 foot x 3 foot and about 2 1/2 foot high. They were origianly shipping crates. I've used them for the past 3 years without issue (other than them chewing on the door opening.)

Real talks but when it's your boy renting a house with you Ill accept w.e. Plus the outside space aint that much O well though them big sobs will save me locking the door both working line rotts no b.s

Not sure what you mean? There is no insulation in any of the inside houses but on the outside dog houses I use 3 inch insulation board and slide them inbetween the framework of the dog house. If your refering to the basement pictures, the white walls in my basement is just poorly done brickwork that has been painted. (not by me but previouse owners of the house.)

The picture undernith the one with Mia sitting on the house is a whelping pen. That also doubles for a nice spot to teach beginers when everything is taken out of it.;)

i was thinking the other one looked a little small height wise but might just be because of the angle

agk, i like the way you think...
thanks for the rafter o screw idea... it will come in handy
during the winter months. much more feasible than making
semi permanent enclosures with ply wood and chicken wire
as well as monetary cost. you dah man! :D

i just checked out my basement and i got two ideal areas.
i had the framing and chicken wire list all done up..it's now
in the garbage. and i feel much less stressed..lol

another question, what to you do to neutralize the urine oder,...
do you use a 2gal pump sprayer with bleach and water to
soak the soiled spots on the concrete? or do you have a more
practical solution for that too? lol
