I read in an older post that you can mix pine sol with dawn dish detergent. Can you replace pine sol with Mr. Clean? Iv tried alot to keep the fleas off my dogs, Iv bombed my house, flea dipped the dogs, tried a few different flea soaps and flea collars, my vet also gave my pup a dose of Revolution, next day the pup had fleas on him. My newest pit is having a real tough time with the fleas, she is biting herself so much she is making sores.

Down here in FL, the only thing I can get to work is Advantage. I have tried numerous natural, other topicals.....I have also read all these posts. Nothing works here like Advantage.

Frontline didn't work down here, it is what I used back in Maryland. But here in Florida it is insect heaven. The kennel where I had boarded my mini schnauzer recommended Advantage after we told them that we had a problem finding something that worked. They said Frontline works moderately well for fleas and ticks, Advantage is Flea only and it destroys them. Now the same makers of advantage make Advantix which covers fleas and ticks but I have never used it so I cannot recommend it. Also I have not used the tea tree shampoo, I have heard good things about tea tree though. I don't know how serious the flea problem is in SC, because down here it is sand and humid so the little buggers love it.

Have you also tried treating/spraying the yard?

I've been using Frontline Plus, no complaints here.

He just goes in the yard, they dont dig, and there are 4 dogs in the house. When I bomb and spray the house, they all gets baths right before they are let back in the house. When I give them baths, a half hour later the stupid fleas are back, and they haven't even gone outside! They also eat garlic and brewers yeast, which is supposed to help too :-/

    what about their bedding?

  10. Get Permethrin-10, avalible at TSC or other farm stores, dilute it 5 parts water to 1 part permethrin in a spray bottle. Spray them once a week or even as much as every other day. As well as in their barrels and around their chain spots. Avoid spraying bellies of nursing gyps and pups under 6 weeks. I have never had a flea, fly or tick problem using this and have used it for years.

THIS IS WHAT WORKS FOR ME....FIRST YOU GOTTA KILL THE "SOURCE"...YOUR YARD OF COURSE...I SPRAY MY YARD WITH"BAYER COMPLETE INSECT CONTROL"...THEN FOR TOPICAL USE ON MY DOGS I USE"BAYER TREE & SHRUB INSECTICIDE"....IT HAS THE SAME ACTIVE INGREDIENTS AS "FRONTLINE" AND IS MADE BY THE SAME COMPANY...YOU CAN BUY BOTH OF THESE PRODUCTS AT WAL-MART...AND ITS REAL CHEAP COMPARED TO FRONTLINE,K-9ADVANTIX,ETC...JUST GET A SURINGE FROM YOUR LOCAL FEED STORE.....DRAW BACK ABOUT 5cc AND APPLY DOWN THE BACK OF THERE NECK/BACK...I LIVE IN THE RIVER BOTTOMS SO THERE IS A SEVERE FLEA/INSECT PROBLEM IN MY YARD....OR AT LEAST THERE WAS...:D

  12. Also some dogs are alergic to flea bites (flea allergy dermatitis) which means when they get bitten the spot becomes more swollen and irritated. It is more common with red nosed dogs. Garlic is good too, use fresh chopped garlic, also depending on where you live guineas or chickens are good at eating ticks and fleas out of the yard.

That last post wasn't meant to be bad if anyone takes it that way, I just dont tie my dogs up, I dont trust people enough to leave my dogs tied up outside. Too friendly and they like to bark alot lol

  15. Well inside or out you can still use what i told you too, I have indoor dogs too. The garlic is only an extra thing not a cure all for fleas. But the permethrin is.

  16. PIT BULL 24.... My dogs are on proper chain set-ups, not tied up. My wife is a vet, she was trying to help you from killing your dog on pinsol. My wife wont let me write what I want to say, lol so therefor I will just shut up. If you have nothing good to say then just don't post!

I didn't mean to sound rude, obviously what I wrote was worded wrong. I have nothing against chains/chain set-ups, I just dont use them myself because I dont want my dog stolen or shot by idiot neighbors. Thank you to your wife, Im going to try and find some at the local feed store, does she know whow expensive it is?

  18. Sorry for being an ass! It's like 5 bucks for a small bottle I believe.

Wondering where everyone orders their flea & tick control products from. I use Frontline plus with great results & used to order from Eppinette Kennel supply but they no longer ship out the product. Their 3 month supply was fairly cheap. I've been searching around, but haven't found anything close to what i've been paying. I'm willing to try other products, but Frontline Plus been working well for me. Thanks in advance...
