dogfood and suppliments

Discussion in 'Health & Nutrition' started by ...Onyx..., Jun 15, 2010.

  1. Ok I have 2 questions... #1... Has anybody ever heard of blue buffalo wilderness dog food, and if so what do you think of it?
#2. I was reading up on 2 supplements I was thinking about trying for one of my dogs to build him up a lil bit, one is called equiad bodybuilder for dogs, and the other is Nuvet plus. thanks.

great food, bit pricy. scratch those supplements, waste of money. the bb + hard work will get you there.

  3. On a scale of 1-6, I'd rate that food about a five, maybe even a six. The Wilderness formula has a fairly high protein content and would work well for bulking up a working dog.

Blue Buffalo does have another formula, that food is not as good, probably about a four - it is rather grain heavy, but at least it is good grains not corn.

i hav to agree with budboy..if u hav gd food then there is less of a nd 4supplements..i used to use nuvet plus..its gd stuff as far as making ur dog more healthy(joints, coat, immune system)..i startd feedn evo n it has 42%protein..i stop using the nuvet n cldnt tell the diff..evo is gd but very expensive..theres also a healthy weight evo with like 52%protein...premium edge healthy weight 1 is also gd..it has 44%protien and alot less expensive..

  10. Just make sure you are working your dog a lot if you feed a high protein food. Also don't give pups a real high protein diet.

  11. Ok I a keep all this in mind, when i do get home...:dogdrink:

it may be good food, but youll never see me spendin my money on thaqt stuff or ever being a customer of blue buffalo. and i cant see how any "breed advocates" would be either if they knew they donated a small % to the HS.

maybe hearsay to you, maybe not.
but theres tons of top quality dogfood that doesnt donate for the same price to be worht the risk to me.

i personally swear by diamond naturals or premium edge, but if the blue buffalo type is your thing and you can afford it, you may want to look into taste of the wild or canidea brands also. but its up to you, feed what you like.

Blue Buffalo Wilderness is some pretty damn good food. Personally I feed kirklands chicken and rice though all it is, is diamond naturals chicken and rice just in a different bag for a lot less ($21 for 40 lbs) and it works great for my animals. I supplement with nupro, and again it works well for my animals. I would say if you are getting really serious into conditioning you might want to look at RF1, it's about as good as you can get as far as supplements go. I have also been known to use K9 Super Fuel every now, and then...some people like it some absolutely hate it, it really just depends on what works for your animals. Best of luck in whatever you decide to go with.

yea costco's kirkland is the exact same in a diff. bag. although its only 4$ cheaper (diamond naturals is $25 per 40 lbs.),

isnt RF1 that shit that TG has on his page, if so i could never see myself spendin $200 on a bag. lol

personally i dont really see the issue with keepin pups fat.
i was always put on that pups should be pups so let em be fat and happy (within moderation), i wouldnt really start to cut feed until he's between 5-8 months.

now i realize that theyre bones grow when theyre young and thats why i say moderation. just let em be chunky pups till they reach theyre "teen" time and cut down then.

or do what everybody else says im not vet and definately not an expert on nutrition. im juss sayin if it was me.

pups need higher protein that most adult dogs but not to high i wouldnt give a pup more that 27-28% protein i personally feed my pups diamond naturals large breed puppy because it has a better calcium/phosphorus level and its 27/15 protein/fat
