    True, true,
From the six litters i bred the first was with a untested bitch.
With the next bitches, it was done as proper as it can be.
And if i known a lot earlier about Droopy it would have made a big difference in my breeding and what i have bred.
But then it also comes down of what you have seen and learned and if you have learned from somebody who just plays around like a child it's hard to judge just from your own dogs. and the few staffords i have met and compered with.
I''m always prepared to take a hard look in to my own yard, to get rid of the crap.
And maybe some of my dogs wil cur in the long haul but not me.
Got to much time put in to this to quit even if i have to start over and over again.

Good post Bulldoghistorian! Biggest joke I see are are all those peddlers that currently is breeding generations of untested dogs on myths. Easy to pass judgement on those before us and claim its all their fault, while not doing nothing yourself to improve it.

You can only make one fair judgement, and that is of the dogs in front of you. Of what has been when your where not there you do not know nothing! Neither do you know nothing of what´s to come! But if you make all the right choices, the chances increases greatly that there shall be anything of value left tomorrow.

  3. Beanie man if u as u say your dogs have been tested and are true
and only your first litter is untested I dont understand why u complain
so u have made 5 litters of quality and should be able to rock the competition

u wouldnt be seeking information but would know u need nothing else
scratchline is still there time to cross it , 10 count to scratch
were still counting will u take hold

Me: Hey mr Psycho got some lads here who are heavy into the psycho line and are looking to by a pup
Mr Psycho: well son LOL does it have to be white

Mr Psycho: damn that means I will have to go down all the way to dublin as T happens to have a litter of bull terrier crosses that mostly white. will u cover the cost of gas
Me: I think they wouldnt mind

All in all a real shame for anyone thats willing to put in a lot of hard work and do the right things by the dogs, thats trying to get into them, but will find themselves tripping over every hurdle due to paper hanging and lies.

Im interested in the stories behind the red strain, but cannot believe its all made up, some parts maybe, some falsified pedigrees, but not all of it? What the story with battling Duchess was she not one of the founding bitches of the so called red strain. And some info on red warrior and Ch red joe would be great to read becuase it seems these dogs were redstrain and they worked out for some people as have a few other red strain dogs.

i think what J.D is saying is that the original dogs that were sent to MD were not bred the way they are said to be?
suppose if you look at most of the peds of the so called Irish staffs there is question marks.
i think you just have to look at what your feeding and make your own decisions at the way to go forward, after all its you that has to feed and pick up after them.
there is stuff that has being tried and tested and producing OK dogs but there would be in the minority.
them fellas in Ireland must be sitting with their pints of Guinness having a right old chuckle. look at that Harpo dog for instance in recant times. sent over from Ireland supposed to be this and that and what a load of shit that turned out to be.

Right i get what your saying now, end of the day who cares how the line has come together there have been a few of these "red strain dogs" that have worked out quite well down the years by all accounts, so as redbill says just look at what your feeding and make your own decisions. Something that i have recently done, good advise!

    Here´s my 2 cents Matty...

Talked with one of the wellknown people that where around at the time of the early days- he told me just about the same stuff about the Red strain that BH sais here. Then in the middle there was some good dogs, that probably where honest and bred the way people claimed. Then the last decade or so, stuff started to go bad again!

The early days are not relevant anymore, so if you can find a proper bred dog that goes back to the dogs in the middle I am sure you have a good chance. But avoid some of the made up dogs of the 1990´s and later on.

I am not here to put the Staffords down, I love the Staffords and want them all the best! I am here because I am sick and tiered of all the shitty dogs being peddled these days, and all the newbie and wannabe breeders around! We can only judge whats in front of us, so god damn people start judging whats in front of you! Instead of breeding worthless show dogs that just happens to be a bit up on the leg...

The thing is, there is obviously a few relatively new people from the u.k that have their heads screwed on, do their research and are in it for the long haul, that are getting palmed off with sub-standard animals, whilst a few fellas are rubbing their hands together and laughing behind their backs. In my opinion this isnt going to help further the breed, and in a way quite selfish when you think that there are some right dickheads that do have good dogs available to them, that not only ruin the dogs they have, but ruin the breeds image in the public eye also.
Just some food for thought. Cheers Dan
