    Amazing set-up!!!!

Me personally I LOVE the over head cable for any breed of dog!
I use cable tie-outs though instead of chains though, only because I don't own a bulldog

    Here's my set up:

I have used a cable (but not a cable run) to contain my mutt in the past and I wouldn't recommend it at all.
he chewed through in a mattre of seconds, cleared the fence and went to scrap with another dog...

never had a single problem with the chain...

  5. Oh yeah,, the cables should be the ones that have a plastic covering over them to avoid rusting. They should not be taught but just a little loose as that is harder for a dog to snap them. I would also not use any pulleys that have pins on them as those could also come loose, use pulleys that are welded like the ones used by the air force to rapell. Put the cable through 1 gallon plastic jugs at each end so the pulleys won't bounce off the hard ends, it will act as a bumper. Any and all bolts should be fixed on permanently with locktite or some similar product.

Anybody have any pics of a proper over head cable run system?

So far I like the chain and swivel set up. I do have a cable run though to switch dogs out on for excercise but sometimes the chewers tear it up.

One way you can get your dogs looking real good is, if you can find two small trees I dont remember what kind works best, Ill find out later but they have to be able to bend and you put a cable run on them and you can lure them out and then the trees will pull them back and really get their muscles conditioned. You have to be lucky to find the right spot for it though.

it is very easy to do yourself and i can tell you how and the materials you'll need, but i wouldnt and you shouldnt pay more than $150-200 to have them constructed. maybe even cheaper depending on where you live.

$150 -200 sounds cheap i'd think the wood 8 x 8 or 10 x10 12 foot long walmanized probally costs 70 each if i could find that cable thats coated for 80- 100 feet probally $160-200 the pully at least $40 the hardest part looks to be how to tighten the cable

    cable runs, if done properly-
    they can be safe
ground or elevated are both fine
they dont carry the stigma ( no, not vinny) that a chain setup does
i could go on and on

there are right and wrong ways to do either a chain or cable setup, but like it or not-cable is stronger than chain. how many cranes do you see using chain? ;)

and phill maybe i shouldve been clearer $150-200 to have it constructed which means labor, the cost of materials varies depending on what you use.
