How would you compare the Amstaff to the APBT?

Sorry for asking such a dumb question, How would compare these two as far looks, temperment,drives,etc

 

look, ehh ok may be. temperement, mmm iffy lol, drives=NO COMPARISON!

 

Looks:

-AmStaff is stockier, more square, blocky head. Standard says they do not have red noses.
-APBT is rangier, lean, typically smaller and looks athletic versus bulky.

Temperament:

I don't think their temperaments vary too much. Both should be people friendly, eager to learn, loyal, and happy go lucky. APBTs likely exhibit more dog aggression than AmStaffs.

Drive:

Most people will tell you the APBT has the AmStaffs beat on this one. Drivey and hard working AmStaffs do exist, but they are being bred more for pets and show, so if you want a working dog go with the APBT.

 

Could one still use the amstaff for weight pulling and springpole or they just pretty much show dogs?

 

yea they could accell in weightpulling pretty well, and im sure any dog would like a springpole.

but they do accell more in show dogs.

 

How would I compare the American Staff to the APBT?

LAME.........:p lol, but that's just me

 

am staff is all show and no go. i dont like the bulky sqaure look. i like the lean more streamy line like the APBT

 

the same way id compare a beagle and a doberman they are two totally different breeds

 

Both dogs are ferrari's, only one has the engine.....

I have a little Am Staff girl here that is VERY driven. She would EXCEL at sports especially anything including a ball! lol She spring poles, treadmills, flirt poles, all the ''stuff''. lol She's pretty dog reactive though I wouldn't say she wouldn't quit, she'll sure start though! lol She's actually got a pretty good little build on her as well. Not over done, although she's snorty like a little big. lol
