What do you guys and girls use for your pole? friends use beam sticks but i must be weak, i find them to heavy to move at a fast enough pace for the dogs. I have used a pvc pipe before but a friends dog staying on the yard ripped it up. I was thinking of buying 3 bamboo sticks and taping them up and using that.

Use a break stick to get the dog off before he breaks it. ;)

1" pvc pipe, if you are worried about ~breaking~ then get the "gray" -its a little more pliable.

  6. I use an old heavy duty fishing pole I picked up at a yard sale. Flexible, strong and easy to handle.

Same here, right now I'm using an old mop stick. I've used pvc pipe and even a regular old stick before.

pvc pipe works fine and its cheap, just make sure its not left out where a dog can get to it again. with enough time a dog will chew through just about everything.

PVC pipe is too heavy for me and so I get tired before the dogs do, and I also can't move it fast enough. I have a ton of bamboo in my backyard so I just cut a stalk whenever I need more. It's very light and doesn't break too easily.

I use a lunge whip. Its light and fast, but if the dog catches the lure you can't really have an intense tugging match or he'll probably break it

I use a horse whip which has a flexible rod on the inside. You can get 1 at the feed store for about $15

I made one out of PVC pipe, as well we have the horse lunge whips. I've also used a cat teaser toy in the house! lol One of my fosters came with one, and Scarling got all obsessed with it, until she eventually broke the toy off the end. Weird how she'll gauge her strength depending on the toy and what it can handle. We started out with the cat teaser toy when she was a tiny puppy, and it finally just broke the other day and she's almost two! lol

I also use a lunge whip, they cost £5-10 in the UK & are lightweight, flexible & east to use ! If they do snap you can cut them down & use them over the a-frame etc.
    Cheers Terry.:)

I love the flirtpole. I will be looking into a lunge whip. Never heard of it before, but I'm going to the feedstore tomorrow. Swinging around hickory saplings is a very tiresome tasks. It usuall leaves both the dog and me sucking bad air.
