I hear my share of stupid stuff daily, but lately my pet peeve is something that WILL hurt the breed rather then just line stupid peddlers pockets.

I am so sick and tired of having to fight people left and right on the simple fact that a dog park is not the place for an APBT.

I am so sick and tired of being told I am just a "stupid pit bull hater" who "knows nothing about the breed" when I have put countless hours of my blood, sweat, and tears into this breed and am out daily monitoring the spread of BSL, trying to fight it, and also always leaving my home open to ANY pit in need.

I am sick of hearing "don't punish the breed" thrown back at me in response to the single most common sense and logic based choice a responsible APBT owner could make for their dog.

No, random pit bull owner who thinks your dog belongs at the dog park, I don't hate the breed - rather I hate the fact that people like you are blindly helping lead to the extermination of my favorite breed. I hate that I may never be able to show my grandchildren what a true APBT is.

Ok deep breath. I'm feeling frustrated I feel like I have this conversation with someone at least 3 times a week, and I am always berated, screamed at, and called names in return for offering a very simple concept that is perfectly logical and in the best interest of the breed. :mad:

Dumbest thing I ever heard: I was visiting this guy I know well and he was sprinkling a white powder on his dog's food. I asked what it was. He told me it was some stuff he bought from "some guy". It was supposed to "cut up" the worms inside the dog so they would pass easier. I was like WTF. I haven't been back over there. I try to avoid idiocy.

sometimes i feel as if it's a losing battle. sometimes i don't even want to get into the conversation of what a real APBT is with people. there are soo many idiots out there that it can be overwhelming.

the other day i was at a festival and had my 115 pound boerboel with me. some guy came up to me telling me about his "pit bull" who was the same size as my boerboel. i just looked at him and said " a pit bull wishes they could be as big as her (my boerboel)." and he, "oh no, he was just as big!" and i just didn't have the energy to correct him and explain. i felt at a loss.

and not too long ago i was in a pet store talking to one of the sales associates. he was telling me about how he had just put a $500 deposit down on a razor's edge puppy from Virginia to have shipped in in a couple weeks to be his new guard dog (LOL!). I couldn't contain my laughter. I said something under my breath but audible about razor's edge not being a pit bull. I had Disco with me at the time. he pointed to him and asked what kind of dog he was, haha. I told him and he said "but he is so small!" then he asked me if he was razor's edge. OMG! seriously!? i just said "no, he actually fits the standards for an APBT. bye"

i just feel sometimes like there is no talking to these type people. it drives me insane. but yet, the few times i actually have tried educating folks, it either turns into an argument, or they just discount my knowledge (and i've tried both the asshole approach and the nice approach, neither works). i don't know what to do anymore. the general public just has no f'ing clue. sigh.......

 

Yeah he did not describe it too well, but that is sort of how it works. A lot of people chose it over a chemical wormer as its perfectly natural.

It is actually a really interesting substance, it not only deals with a bunch of different types of worms but it helps with fleas and other parasites as well. It also has some effects of helping draw heavy metals and bacteria out of the body. Very interesting stuff indeed.

 

Sadly ElJayb is right, theres a lot of folks in where we both live who are big in RE dogs. But theres also some decent stock as well. CUTT that was the same stupid nonsense I read this morning. You should read his pm's to me.

 

I rescued a brindle pitbull out in russelville al and the guy who gave me the dog said this "My son named the dog psycho he rescued it from a cage thrown into the river, but he doesnt take care of the dog and he said he was going to give the dog gunpowder and fight it to make money..."

 

lol...i get that almost everytime i walk my pup she has a pretty deep natural tuck.........one guy told me all of his dogs can kill mine becuz my pup gets along with my gurlfriend's cat.......

That same person also told me that any dog with white on it is albino, and very rare.
