Game dogs with not a mark on em?

When looking at pictures of old game dogs, as well as the more recent "game-tested" dogs, I have only seen a few with anything more than a big tick scar.
Are most pictures before these dogs earned their GrCh or Ch titles?

    Thanks

Alot of times the pictures of the dog are taken before their all marked up. or the dog walked through it's comp...or of course, it's not a legit winner.....

Yea, I knew a lot of true punishers probably came through looking as good as before, but these 2+ hour dogs have to have come out looking less than prime, as you said.

This is all based on pre-76. There's a few different reason for the marks not being seen. Some were taken before the dogs got all marked up, true. Some matches that went long were with 2 soft mouth dogs but game. Some pictures were taken of the dogs better side or from a distance so it becomes hard to notice. Alot of dogmen treat there wounds with alot of care so they'll heal with little to no scar tissue because if you think about it lets say you see a dog before you contract the show and he looks like he's been to hell and back. It becomes kinda intimidating and some will turn from the match just based on that. When you see a dog all busted up and he's still looking like he's about some trouble you know one thing he can take the heat in the kitchen. You can miss out on some matches like that. Especially if you see a dog with alot of marks in his face it usually means his opponents have spent a lot of time trying to get him off of them. Keep them looking like they've never been in the woods is always advised for several reasons.

    cause some folks be lyeing

now days you wouldnt see a pic of the dog if it was a match champ Im guessing it wouldnt wear the title

but it could be a show champ they have alot of them good at looking better than the other

Excellent post Gameexchange. True dogmen and women know more about wound care than any average dog owner could fathom. Also, those 2hour plus shows are more a test of gameness and stamina, not who gets busted up the worst. Those pics of Iron Kid don't look too bad. Looks like he was a driving dog who his opponents tried to keep out as best they could. You should see Ch. Homer's face. To sum it up. The scars on a dog mean jack. Some die without losing a drop of blood and with nary a scar on them.

Thanks for the info. I def could see where facial scars would actually indicate a dog with strong offence.
I was recently reading up on the "first-aid" kit kept by one dogman, cant remember who unfortunately, and was really impressed with how many things it contained for any situation.

    First Aid Kits/Emergemcy Care

I'm sure it has been posted before, but I found this to be a good starting point.

Let's remember that some of the dogmen and women take or took better care of the dogs than they took care of themselves. Some of these people live in shacks while their dogs live in canine mansions. (I'm not trying to offend anyone.)
I have much love for the TRUE APBT not the BULLY BULLSH*T.

I had 2 girls from a APBT/Weinner/Blue Heeler cross. They started fighting when they was a few weeks old. I tried to keep them in the same kennel for the first few years , big mistake. I wish I had known what a break stick was .They would get their holds and settle in. I figured they would work it out, make nice an release.I really didnt think they would kill each other. Finally , I bought another kennel but I had a few more fights break out . They couldnt even be together in the yard.

What I am getting at is my girls had all kinds of marks, white hair , ears tore to shreds. I am surprised no one reported me.

If you have ever handled your dog u would know if u care for them the right way you would know that they heal very very good... They could get into a bad accident and there face is nuttin but hamburger and three weeks later not a mark one... Black dogs are a exception..

When our dogs have gotten into trouble, the worst being what seems to be a 410 shot, we have patched them up and they have healed up well, outside a snake bite to the face that caused some nerve damage. I was simply stating my being impressed with the care and know-how dogmen have

My dog was attacked by two off leash "pit bulls" a few years ago, and his head was covered in puncture wounds. Except for one long slice he had on the top of his head, all his scars faded out with time. I also credit that to a good flushing and antibiotics.

Warning, graphic picture, but to give an idea of the damage we are talking. (his fur was shaved here, obviously)

it is true though, half the stuff you see these days is crap/bs
alot of wounds will heal up good if they've been attended to well and you won't notice to much in a photo

nustock works very well in minimizing scarring ive had some of my catch dogs torn to pieces and now you can barely tell

    http://www.nustock.com/

but scars show better on some colors like black you can usually see every single scar on a black dog

I wasn't there when it happened, but from what I was told each dog had a hold on either side of his face. When my sister's boyfriend pulled one dog off and made it a fair fight, apparently the tables turned real quick.

Just an accidental street fight though, nothing to write home about lol He was "my" first dog though, so he's got a special place in my heart regardless. Turning 8 years old on January 1st.
