Extreme Conditioning program

  1. Hey, my dog is in great shape no doubt she is now 3 and I want her to be her absolute best.
    No way am I even thinking of fighting my dog, but I want my dog to be in pitbull gladiator form... Get it? Because after all like it or not the APBT is a fighter by design. Of course I also want her to enjoy it all at the same time, no doubt that she will. A tired dog is a happy dog. I need some advice and and any helpful info that you guys got.

    So far Kila does spring pole for like 30 mins, and sprints chasing a chew ball for like 30 mins. Long walks as well, and long jogs with me. Not trying to brag but being an mma fighter I am in damn good shape myself, no problem jogging her I love the company lol.

    So today here is what we did, An hour long walk. Got back to the yard she did around 30 mins of spring pole and then 30 mins sprinting back and fourth after the ball. I then brought her in and I fed her like 25 mins later and rubbed her down etc

    I am wondering how often I should do this?
    Everyday or every other day? How many days a week?
    I don't want to sound like I am clueless, just using the internet to better my canine.

    As for nutrition I got that covered, I feed Wellness Core and raw meat like three times a week. Every now and then some scrambled eggs, or some yams, bananas. I feed a teaspoon of raw honey like almost daily, as well as cold boiled water....

    Any other info, exercises are obviously welcome.

    if you train for mma yourself, then you should have a good idea about scheduling-its pretty much the same idea
    start out slowly, gradually increase. make sure to give time for worked muscles to heal.

    Sounds what you are doing already is great. mix it up break up the routines to alternate everyother day. keep it simple keep it fun. An the pc term to use would be keep. This is very important free advice. You do not want to intentionaly keep your dog in a constant state of optomon performance. Professional atheletes don't even do this. The body needs to rest and recover, rejuvinate.

    It will help to find Kila's optimum weight, keeping daily records of before and after elimination. When kila's workouts begin to soften add food keeping close attention
    to the weight gain, and performance. then follow simms advice above.

    Just an observation...

    You said you worked her hard and then fed her 25 minutes later...the only change I would make is wait at LEAST an hour after hard work. Just a bloat precaution, you don't want her to enjoy herself so much for working out with you and spending time, only to end in a painful vet visit.

    Everything sounds great though! Keep up the good work with her!

    I will give you some information.just like humans i don't recommend that you work your dog on daily bases. I used to spend with my dog 4 hours/day and sometimes five. I used to put him on the spring around 45-60 minutes. Then let him rest a little bit and after that i take him jogging for 13-15 miles. I just open the window and drive going ~5 miles/hr and he follows me. I work him 3 days then i give a day off. while he is jogging stop every hour or so for ~5 minutes. I splash his mouth with a sip of water. don't let him drink during jogging, just give him ~ half a cup in his mouth, the program is :

    Day 1) spring pole for 45-60 minutes then you rest him for a little bit then you take him jogging usually it will take 3-4 hrs keep checking on your dog and don't let him jog on the street. my friend tried that with his dog and let's say it wasn't the smartest thing to do. imagine you running on the street without a shoe. (((don't rush your dog so he doesn't get tired fast and harm himself, always concentrate on how he is doing. Its not about how fast he can run. it's about how long he can exercise and benefit from it. don't forget that he should enjoy it or the result will be zero. your dog will perform better as he gets healthier and more athletic, and eventually he will race you))).

    Day 2) spring pole, rest him for a little bit. Then, make him do some weight pulling, flirt pole, and protection training, our driver usually wears the jacket, and he got injured several times, so watch out.

    Day 3) similar to day 1. I usually don't do the same thing. I go to the beach and go swimming. in the water, i hold him with one hand from the midpoint between his four legs ( so he won't swim to shore), and he tries to swim to shore, but i am holding him, so he doesn't move but he keeps going. My dog doesn't mind water, but i seen dogs that freak out so be careful. my dog used to love going to the beach. i hope it works out for you. maybe try attaching a small tire to him a let him pull it. My dogs love soccer balls, and they go crazy when they see one.

    Then you rest him for a day, and go over the schedule again. your dog won't be able to do half of that at the beginning, but you will be surprised what your dog can do once he starts adjusting to the change.

    off course a very good diet is essential. every dog reacts differently to nutrition, and i would recommend using supplements, vitamins, minerals, cod fish liver oil or salmon oil, and make sure he gets the proteins that he needs. consider your dog a bodybuilder, don't over feed him or he will pump like a balloon, always try to balance. keep close eyes on your dog and how he is doing. try to understand how your dogs body reacts to different exercises and nutrition, then try to reach the equilibrium point where he gets the nutrition he needs without being too thin or overweight, and where he gets the exercise that his body needs to be in the best shape, strength, and health. i write my observations on paper and keep them in a file i keep for each of my dogs( i have one 8 years old i got from Spain, and one is 5 years old from Ukraine , and a Chinaman i bought from Tom Garner, which is 60 lbs at 14 month) if you wake up the next day and he is not jumping around as he always do, that means that you are pushing him too much. I recommend that you speak with a good vet about his diet and nutrition since it is very important.I make my dogs own supplement. after his exercise i give him his shake, and a huge raw bone as a reward.

    i used to take him walking on the day i rest him, but for half an hour. his behavior might change a little bit. he will get more confident and stronger and he will realize that, but every dog behaves differently, and it also depends on the kind of stress he gets if you exercise him intensively.

    a treadmill would make your life easier if you don't have the time, but i think the outdoor activity is a lot better. i recommend grand carpet treadmills. its for~$300 new, or build one if you want to go cheaper, you can Google it.

    I won't give you everything i know, but that will help keep your dog fit and looking like a dog bodybuilder. just remember, diet is very very important, and also remember one important thing, know that conditioning your dog is not just exercise and diet, it's also mental training to him. you need to create the right healthy atmosphere around him to get better results, during and after working him out.

    I have a 14 month old Chinaman that i bought from Tom Garner out of princess lady x CH Dynamite last new year when i was in the states. I give him intense exercise b/c i want him to get closer to 2 years of age. i exercise him about an hour a day just to keep him in good fit.

    ((( you can't put your dog on an intense conditioning camp and diet all the time. your dog need to rest every once in a while, every once in a while i give my dog (not the 14 month old) a 2-3 weeks rest from exercise, and feed him normally)))
