guestion about the rubdown

    Excellent article thanks for posting.

    A few things.
    You should always rub towards the heart as this is the direction of the valves.
    Cross fibre (frictions) are best for breaking down scar tissue, which should then be followed by `normal` activity but not too strenuous in order for the new scar tissue to be laid down in the same direction as the fibres.
    The nervous system takes 5 times longer to recover than the muscular system.
    The way 'old dogmen' conditioning their dogs it would be very unlikely that the nervous system would be exhausted because the road work/endurance work is non taxing to the nervous system.
    Pre competition would still be towards the heart but the techniques and tempo would be different in order to stimulate rather than for relaxation and recovery.

    A lot of ppl dont understand why a good rub down is important but bob stevens said everythig right.
     
  3. After reading this i gave the dog a rubdown 4 days in a row after some hard work and hes more alive and ready to roll than ever.
