I was looking at the leerburg site and also on dog-muzzle-store.com

Figuring on getting one so my dog can run around with my friends dogs with out hurting them... good or bad idea?

    Thanks guys.

I bring a muzzle with me for legal reasons! not to put on them! but if he doesn't get a long with them, don't bring him to PLAY !!

a muzzle ain't gonna make him play nice, it's may just make him more hyper and start jumping and head butting and so on. Some of my dogs can get a muzzle off in a split second. Bad idea, JMO.

jogging threw a dog park good idea! if absolutely necessary you go threw the park!!

sending a dog in a crowd of dogs with a muzzle expecting him to learn to play nice, eventually! not a good idea . it's the way you intended on using every one answers

Get a muzzle but don't expect the dog to wear it all the time and like it at all mine hate them rub faces up and down my leg i feel bad for them , so i carry it but don't use it. see what i'm saying?

    Update:
Well I bought a muzzle, and after using it a few times at the dog park and my friend's house, my dog aggressive bitch is now playing nice with the other dogs muzzle-less.
I put it on her when I first get around other dogs, let her sniff them out and then after a few minutes of that I take it off and she is cool.
I think it is a great tool for training your dog.

This is the only thing I can think of in regards to bringing a dog aggressive animal to a dog park:

This is not the way you should be "training" an APBT. I would not be surprised if you dog hurts another dog in the future. If you wanted a dog to play with your friends dogs and go to dog parks, why did you get an APBT?

That is totally irresponsible of you to take her to dog parks. When your APBT hurts another dog and it could have been avoided by not going, that is a selfish jackass thing to do.
If I was that person in the park I except people who go to dog parks really do not have an aggression issue. That fact your bitch had to use a muzzle to tolerate other dogs is deceptive to the other owners. Sorry to get bitchy but people like you who support dog parks and think your dogs aggression can be fixed with a muzzle are the ignorant people who end up on the evening news giving our breed a bad name.
You came here looking for advice and you had everyone trying to help, now you are just being irresponsible:(

I think the dog park bugs me the most. APBT's do not belong in a dog park! Period!

My dog was aggressive as hell when I got her, fucked up an approaching unleashed dog while I was walking her, she would go crazy if she even saw another dog, she'd start jumping up on me, but now now with lots of training and socialization she is fine.
What else explains her running around with 5 other APBT's, couple big Amstaff's, Boxers, Husky's and like 15 other dogs. I'm not saying I'd leave her unattended in there but you if your don't know how to train your dog shame on you, not me for trying and succeeding.

And BTW, Saying that APBT don't belong in dog parks might be the most ridiculous thing I have ever heard. I guess you support BSL as well..

    You just can't fix stupid!

With training you can teach a dog to tolerate other animals, doesn't mean you should go to a dog park. you will learn the hard way I guess. Do us all a favor and place the APBT and get a poodle.

Yup , I can see where this one's gonna end up:eek:

If ya wanted a dog who would get along with other dogs, then you shoulda got one.Don't think for one second you can 'train' and 'socialize' a 200+ year old genetic trait out of your dog.I commend you for wanting to make friends with the other dog owners and wanting to show the APBT in a positive manner, but that ain't the way.Don't let any comments on here rub you the wrong way. It's just that most here have 'been there done that', and are telling you from experience.

I know you've seen lions and tigers who are well trained and listen to their masters, but that doesn't mean that they're gonna cuddle up with a lamb and play nice.

Leaving your dog off lead amongst the 15+ dogs you spoke of can turn real ugly real quickly. What are you gonna do when your dog or another starts some crap and all those dogs explode into a pack attack.Do you know what a packattack is?

Rethink your situation, review the advice we are giving you, and look at it for what it really is not what you want it to be.;)

mseebran, I respect your post and thanks for your comments.

performancekennels, I joined this site not to read you rude comments or be talked down upon so you can go fuck yourself with your immature poodle comments.

Hey you are the one that is ignoring good advice. You asked a question and had every response tell you the same thing from experienced bulldog owners. Then you don't listen to the advice you were given and say you take your APBT to a dog park. I am the first one here to say you can teach an APBT to tolerate other dogs. I do dog sports like Agility and I use my dogs as demo dogs when I teach agility and obedience. I cannot have my dogs going after other dogs in public. With that said i do not allow my dogs to be unsupervised at home with each other or let them go to dog parks, or "play" with other dogs. The reason why? because they are APBT's and capable of killing another animal if attacked. No matter how well your dog is trained if another dogs attack it the APBT is more than likely to come out the winner. So why endanger other people's dogs? That is totally irresponsible of you especially since your dog had aggression issues to begin with. Then you make a comment like "If you don't know how to train your dog then shame on you" WTF? That has nothing to do with the fact if a dog fight happens, like they do at dog parks, then your dog could hurt or kill another dog. why would you take that risk? Now i can see if you had a few friends and you want your dog to play with dogs she will know her whole life, fine I can see working on those dogs and trying to make it work. But you never know what is going to walk in to a dog park, this is what is wrong with PET BULL owners today. They think you can treat this breed like every other breed. That is where the poodle comment came from. Mseebran said the same thing too just in a nicer way. So hate if you want but you will not learn I guess till you have a fight or a dead dog, just don't end up on the news as "Pit Bull killed Jack Russell at dog park"

FakeUSA is just getting faked by his own dog let him learn the hard way, he deserves whatever happens but the breed does'nt so i advise anyone who thinks like FakeUSA to look into another breed. Its because of ignorant idiots like FakeUSA bringing there PB's to dogparks the Pit bull ends up on the headlines. It doesnt matter if your dog didnt aniciate the incident, once she/he bites and grips the news wont read Lab attack.

And you got the nerve to talk shit to PerformanceKnl like he/she dont know he/she's talkin about. Keep us posted when your dog goes "GR Ch Zebo" on someones pet

I heard that rite hear on gamedog GR CH Zebo

lol.......Fake_usa, do you know what performanceknls does with her dogs? "If you don't know how to train your dogs".......thats the funniest sh*t I've read on G-D today and I bet performanceknls turned red when she read that. Anywho, this person is obviously not going to take any real dogman/dogwomans opinions seriously so I guess we'll just read about this in the news later down the road. It's a shame too because while your off tring to find a BFF for your DA dog, your endangering many other dogs and you can't even see it....Some people just have to learn the hard way and it's unfortunated to know seeing as it will be the dog and breed as a whole that will suffer because of ignorance.

Save your self the time of arguing with people and go this thread that I posted when I first joined GD. I learned from everyone on this board the responsability that I now have with owning this type of dog. If I had not listened to all the people with experience on this site my dog would have probably been put down or seized by now.

HA you guys are funny! thank you for defending me, he REALLY hurt my feelers:rolleyes:
AKG I LMAO with the "train your dogs comment". The thing is I will whole heartily support an APBT doing something like dog sports where they can learn to tolerate other dogs. But in dog sports the dogs are not running off leash interacting with each other. I have some nice gamebred dogs that are just fine with other dogs but I would NEVER let them play off leash, it can just do down hill fast. My best friend who travels to dog show across the country with me has a few dogs. Our dogs grew up with each other and played as puppies , they can be in a hotel room or in the park or where ever together but we never let them play and chase. You know why? Because all it would take is one bite and shake and my dog could killer her small dogs. I would never endanger someones dogs like that. So before you think I do not know what I am talking about why don't you go to my website.

better yet why don't you check out my business website

Is a picture of Tasha and Hank while we were going to a show. Tasha was rescued from some known gangsters who fought dogs. They of course didn't know what they were doing which makes it worse on the dogs. It took me 3 years to be able to get her over the DA when she saw other dogs. I was able to finally able to do agility with her and she finished titles at the highest levels. She was special because I never thought I could compete with her because she was so DA. She is now retired at 11 yrs and is a therapy dog. My last yard accident featured her taking down (the dog is fine but was worse off than Tasha) a younger bitch before I was able to get them apart. So before you think I don't know what I am talking about why don't you swallow some pride about your "muzzle" training and learn a bit while you are here.

other dogs we travel with, these dogs would never be allowed to to run around together. Especially since my last accident was both of those female pits in the picture.
