    WOW, just watched them and it's not just APBT's that are targeted. I cannot believe what is going on in our great country! The sad thing is stupid John Q Public keeps voting in the AR crazies and they keep passing these laws that allow them to take dogs like this. With this president it will be scary what types of agenda the left will try to pass. I wonder what it's like in Mexico.... It's only 3 hrs away I might look into a hacienda on the boarder! lol

    Some in the interview could be considered puppy mills, but the target is that these "independent groups" can just do whatever they want. Take your dogs and sell them or kill them. It makes me wonder just how many dogs have been taken from their owners and then sold to others for profit. Too bad there were not any pits in the raid. I would like to have seen how they handled that...

    [FONT=Arial,sans-serif]Do me a favor guys. . If you have a moment to email John Stossel and encourage him to do a follow up report on this. You are welcome to use any information I have in the below email I sent him or any info on our 3 blogs.

    [FONT=Arial,sans-serif]Mr. Stossel,

    I recently saw your 20/20 report on Owner Abuse about local SPCA's taking advantage of owners and confiscating dogs for profit. I am the founder of a non profit organization which educates the public about dog laws and responsible dog ownership. Since undergoing this project I have become painfully aware of how local SPCA groups and the Humane Society of the United States are working together to accuse innocent owners and either kill or sell their dogs.

    In this blog post you can see information about the man whom you interviewed, Garcia and his criminal record. Additionally, we have researched and written about many other cases similar to those you reported. Mostly we have focused on cases in which owners are falsely accused of dog fighting in order to confiscate the dogs. In these cases the local SPCA will demand tens of thousands of dollars in order to "pay for care expenses" for dogs they confiscate. Even if the owners are proven innocent they must pay these fees to regain their dogs if they are not killed or sold before they ever reach trial. Additionally, many of these people find themselves fighting for their homes as forfeiture laws allow the local law enforcement to try and take your home in many kinds of cases. Often times they are still fighting after acquittal in court for the original charges.

    In all these cases similar modes of operation have been noted. The dogs in question are taken using warrants that usually end up being based on "missing" evidence. While in custody of local SPCA agents dogs are allowed to fight being housed together, despite knowledge that this breed does not do well being confined together without supervision. The raids are highly televised when they originally happen and the accused are called such things as "dog fighting king pins" and "dog fighting dons." However, when the accusations are thrown out in court you don't see the news wanting to do an expose on the dogs that were killed before trial or the fact that the judge saw absolutely no evidence that warranted seizure. In fact, the HSUS even runs ads after charges are dropped claiming that they "saved" dogs that they killed from "active dog fighting operations" when in fact the people were acquitted. Also, they tally up huge bills, over $50,000 on average, which people are told they must pay even after dogs have been killed for the "care" of dogs while in custody. They use these bills to try and force forfeiture of the defendants property or homes in order to pay the "care" costs.

    In addition to the above detailed tactics the local law enforcement agencies often times are breaking the law in cooperation with local SPCA and the HSUS. In a case in Arizona Rudy Verdin's children were illegally questioned by an SPCA worker who was brought by the HSUS from another state. There was no guardian present and this "officer" lied to the children repeatedly trying to make them "spill the beans" on their father.

    The attrocities that are ongoing within the dog world are far from over. In fact, they are getting worse and more determined every day to stop dog breeders from owning, selling and loving their dogs. They are trying their hardest to make breeding dogs illegal and scare current breeders away from it. The every day dog breeder has much to fear from the HSUS and local SPCA groups. The pit bull breeder has many additional things to fear including loss of their dogs, their home and their children.

    Please take a moment a review the inbedding links to different blog posts concerning this ongoing problem. We have contact information for many of the accused in recent cases and court documentation of illegal actions taken by the HSUS and SPCA. I truly feel that this is a problem that warrants some real air time.

    Thank you for your time.

    If you could please email Mr. Stossel to get him to consider doing a follow up story about the HSUS/SPCA connection I would appreciate it. If we generate enough interest we may get it done on national television.
