HJ products are sold at Tractor Supply. Just call them and ask if they have it in stock. Maybe they will get it for you. They will do special orders at the one near me.

  6. i read of tincture of white oak bark, though never used it or seen anyone else use it,might be worth while researching it

Funny someone post this today. I had to take my dog in yesterday, he cut his pads about 1 week ago. He jumps up and down on his back legs only like a kangaroo. I was washing them every day with soap and water used tao oniment to prevent infection and tried dresing them gauze and kerlex. Off in 10 minutes. He isn't my house dog so this made things tough. I keep him in a 5x 10 kennel with a dog box. It is pretty cold at night in Co and the ice melts at night so maybe that isn't helping his pads. Took him in yesterday because he went from a wound to a silight infection and he was now favoring his back leg. They put him on simlcef and remadyl. I got him some dogs booties. He is keeping them on in the house but they come rt off in his dog house. 50 bucks for em...will same them for the Peak this summer. The vet told me of this stuff called Mushy I think is the name. The sled dogs teams use it and a place has it in town. I will get the name later on after I pic it up. His back paw is looking 50% better today and he is hopping rt along. I am keeping him with me inside 80% of the time till he heals up.

What would you guys recommend for a pad protector for running dogs on an e-mill with the rubber belts (which i know can be pretty harsh on their pads)?

If you can get your hands on a product called NutraZinc that really helps strengthen pads. It is a Zinc supplement you add to the dogs feed.
I would also recommend either bag balm or Mushers Secret which you should be able to purchase locally. You can apply this stuff directly to the pads which will help prevent injury.

Tuf foot works well, they do make a very inexpensive set of booties that work good too. My favorite is a substance called "pad-heal". It works wonders, but it smell's worse than your dog's rear end, and it doesn't wash off your hands very easily.
