You need to ask yourself what you need to improve in your dogs . I would take it to frisco blood but something that would compliment your dogs. That cross will give you what you want plus more or take it to the cottingham redboy blood it all depends on what you lack.

  2. is there any art/toby blood that is linebred. I want it really tight. like 40/40 art/toby with as few outs as possible.

  3. I too have head that Sorrells woks well with the Eli dogs. I have a little bitch here with a touch of B Sorrells stuff and she's acting good so far!

You are going have to build those tanks up bro. You cant allways have the best of all the worlds. Sometimes its up to you to be a dog man and do what you can to MAKE your dog the beast You expect. Thats What seperates the Dog men from the dog boys. I have allways hunted with eli bred dogs and crosses I know what you meen by more stamina, But you have to work on that with him. J

I have this one, She is a very nice specimen. The thing I see with Eli dogs is their lack of patience, in other word they are barnstorming dogs. They have great wind, structure, and drive, but they are full steam ahead type of dogs. I would reccommend crossing them with some Colby blood, this will give them some intelligence. This cross produces SOLID bulldogs, and is a well kept secret!!

If your dogs are "lacking Patience" Witch we allways called gameness. I would go another route. The ped of you fine specimen is still a pup she looks nice and has a pretty ped but only time will tell what kind of specimen she will be. And crossing colby blood in Well What colby blood there is a ton of that around and alot are just show. And some Eli dogs are barnstormers and some are very smart at workin when they need and resting when they need. I hate it when some one says eli dogs are barnstorming dogs that burn up. The truth is Most are VERY HIGH in intelligence. And are very game any dog will run out of gas if they are not in good shape BUT if they Lack "patience" they are not a good dog and should never be bred no matter what the ped says. I have fed eli dogs for over 20 years and belive me they are as good as any strain in the world. And I have crossed with just about every strain and the colby blood never did me very good as amatter of fact I got cold shy dogs that looked like monsters and had the pretty ped to go with there worthless ass.To be honest some of the best crosses with eli dogs are Ironhead carver and Boltaction black gold boyles. Thats a good cross.J

Just to clear things up I didn't say my bitch is lacking anything, she has all of the qualities which you have spoken of and some. For how young she is she is one of the best dogs I have owned. Maybe your experience with the Colby x Eli stuff didn't work, but I will see what happens with a 1/4 Colby 1/4 Heinzl x 1/2 Eli cross or Heinzl x Eli cross. I run Heinzl stuff primarily, from some good old game working stock. I just did a Colby x Heinzl cross and got real nice results. It's still too early to tell but they are showing good signs. My comment on the eli blood came from a article I read. If I find it I will post it up...Good day

I hear Heinzl Colby is real nice not knocking you sorry if it seemed like it. I talk to a lot of old people in the dogs half of them say line breed 1.2 say best to best ..some say 50-50 cross...who knows. I got a buddy who has a free scatter bred dog that is very good too lol.

This is what you get when you cross the right strain of colby dogs with the eli blood, http://www.apbt.online-pedigrees.com...&dog_id=188413 nothing that hasn't been done and it's still going strong. I favor the E. Crenshaw line of Colby dogs which the Bellon club and Morfin (R.I.P) used with great success. Stu Fowler blood back to the eli jr...well lets just say it's history.

i know some people that have been using sorrells/boudreaux crosses. the ones that were good were real crackers, but they culled alot to get em. it all depends on the individual dogs, what they have, what they dont have, and what you want. just because joe blow down the road did, or didnt have success with them, dont mean youll get the same result. its good to listen to advise but dont let it blure your own sence of direction. i dont know your dogs personally but looking at the peds and the dogs that make that ped, it looks like youve got a couple down from some good hounds there, be honest with what you do with them and youll get good honest results.
    D'S....
