Debating on whether or not I'm gonna come. Need 2 Majors on "Eve" to CH in UKC :D, and 5 points to CH "Spinner" in UKC :D. And for some durn reason, the UKC ALWAYS has it's last show of the year in Florida on the same weekend as Mid-Floridas ADBA show in November :(.

Last year we did UKC that Friday and then ran to ADBA Saturday and Sunday. It's fun but leaves you TIRED TIRED TIRED.

Inside or Outside show this year? Is there a vendor fee?

Glad you asked! The show ring will be outside this year, weather permitting of course! :) No vendors fee but I'll need to know ahead of time who wants to set up so I can reserve table! So far.....PitBullGear, O'Briens, Pit Bull Stuff, Smok'in Pet Gourmet Jerkey and a couple more in the works....

    More Details.....

It’s that time of year again! Mid Florida APBTA will be hosting its annual point show at the Sumter County Fairgrounds on November 29th & 30th. One weight pull competition and two conformation shows will be held on Saturday; the first judged by Joanie Winchester and the second judged by Gary Hammonds. One weight pull competition and one conformation show will be held on Sunday; judged by Hank Greenwood. Sumter County Fairgrounds is located at 7684 SR 471, Bushnell, Florida. For the second year in a row our Sunday show will be dedicated to the Endangered Breeds Association so hopefully everyone can stay thru Sunday! A portion of our proceeds from this conformation show will be sent directly to the Endangered Breeds Association.

Fun events prior to the first show on Saturday will be Best Blue, Best Buckskin and Junior Handlers. Fun events prior to the second show on Saturday will be Best Brindle, Best Black and Judges Choice. Fun events prior to the show on Sunday will be Best Red Nose, Best Conditioned, Junior Handlers and Judges Choice. Your dog need not be registered/papered with the American Dog Breeders Association to participate in these “fun events.” So bring all the “pit bulls” out, join in the fun and spend the day with us!

Here at Mid Florida we try to have extra fun over on the weight pull track. This year will be our 4th annual Poker Pull. It is only $10 to participate and just another way you can help support the Endangered Breeds Association. This is played similar to 5 card stud game; card drawn with your pull. Best hand wins a very special prize!

If you have attend our monthly fun shows and have ever wondered ‘what in the world are those judges looking for’ in a dog, or have considered becoming an ADBA sanctioned judge, make plans to attend the Judging Seminar that will be presented by Hank Greenwood, President of the American Dog Breeders Association. The seminar will be held in the Cow Palace following the second point show Saturday, November 29th late afternoon or early evening. The judging seminar is offered free of charge and we’re hoping for a ‘packed house!’

With two conformation shows on Saturday followed by a Judging Seminar, it is so important we register and move thru our events efficiently. We’re a week and half out from the show now. If you know which of your dogs you are bringing please help us out by pre-registering. To this email you will find our registration form attached. You should be able to type right on this form and email it to us at midfloridapitbulls@earthlink.net All you will need to do Saturday morning is pay and verify your ADBA registration number. This will certainly help us get an early start to a very busy day.

Sunday we’ll kick the day off with our raffle! This year we’ll conduct our raffle a little different. When you purchase your raffle tickets (on sale all day Saturday and Sunday morning) you will be given two matching tickets. You will take one ticket and drop it in a box in front of the item you wish to win! The matching ticket you will keep. We will pull tickets from each box associated with the raffle item. You have more of a chance to win what you are actually interested in rather than something you may not need or want! Should be fun!!

Ever considered getting your dog Canine Good Citizen certified? Here’s your chance! On Sunday, November 30th, CGC testing will be offered at the show site. Every APBT we get CGC certified is a feather in our breeds’ cap! The cost of the test is only $10 per dog, so let’s all give it a try!

Come early and stay late! We’ll be serving breakfast (eggs, bacon or sausage, grits and toast or, how about biscuits and sausage gravy?) lunch and dinner. So when you get hungry stop in for some pulled pork, a grill chicken dinner and snacks and refreshments all day long.

So, as you can see there is something for everyone. We hope you can come out and support both the Endangered Breeds Association as well as Mid Florida American Pit Bull Terrier Association. Mid Florida APBTA stays active all year long in events such as the Pure Bred Dog Exhibit at the Florida State Fair, the AKC Responsible Dog Owners Day, Pit Bull Awareness Day, dog bite prevention programs, as well as our monthly fun shows and our monthly Pits Pounding the Pavement events. But, this event is what we work for all year long…..our grand finale. See you there!!

I will be there with the boys and Envy.
I think I will have Envy (16 weeks) and Amira (22 weeks) tested for their Canine Good Citizen on Sunday. The boys all passed theirs' by 7 months of age. I think the girls can do better.;)

Haven't seen any stats yet, and haven't seen or heard how the show went.

I didn't appear as I was busy trying to stomp the ring at UKC.

I CH "Spinner", CH Full Force Combine's "Banks" and tried to finish "Eve" with a CH but only got her a 1st and a 2nd as she was too lean in their opinion.

Which brings me to a piece of valuable info! Some of you know I show in UKC with the more terrier style APBT. Some of you don't! (lol) My address is this....I request that most of you showers who like conformation get your dogs UKC'd. DO NOT worry about a "hot dog"...As I TRULY believe that "Eve" OFFICIALLY has tried to eat EVERY dog that walked past her crate! (lol) Just as handlers we have to contain that behavior, but DA is NOTTTTTT a DQ!!!! Anyhow...My request is that you all take a peek at the the UKC standard which has been passed and will be enforced Janurary 01st 2009. Them brick shit houses are HISSSTOORRRRYYYYYY ! ! ! !

For you Florida folks...There's roughly 26 UKC shows a year in Florida and they are ALL for points! And...We just incorporated WEIGHT PULL into our club here in Florida. So some of you who seek a UWP in UKC....Come get er done!!!!

    Yard Boy,
It would be nice if you would identify the differences in the old UKC conformation standard verses the new UKC conformation standard. I'm not quite sure what you mean by "them brick shit houses are history." Sorry to be so dense.

ADBA, UKC, AADR whatever is availalbe in your area, I encourage you all to get out and support. The more our dogs are in the public's eye the better.

Well, I was waiting on pictures to post, but...

Havoc got two seconds and one first in 9-12 month males and two seconds on the wp track at 44lbs pulling 29.6x his body weight on sat and 33.9x his body weight on sun. It was his first time on the track...if I woulda left him at 46lbs he would have placed first LOL. The boy worked his heart out for me and I loved watching him pull.

Piston got a third in 12-18 month males on Sat...he needs some more weight on him.

The revised version is all that I could find Lisa. Sorry! The original standard wasn't as detailed as it is now.

What I meant by them brick shit house is that the TERRIER is being put back into the American Pit Bull Terrier.

You recall when you seen the UKC event your way? Them dogs are all beefier, still correct as all out doors, just huge. Well, the standard has twisted and tweaked and is reversing back to judging TERRIERS instead of the ever so famous fad of bullies. The way it is currently, I can take CH Spinner out and people would look at us like we don't belong there. Now the tables are going to turn for the best. Not that them dogs are not loved or correct, they just do not conform to the standard when you view the dogs who consistantly place.

Should be VERY interesting watching this change go into effect. Alot of folks are going to be stuck with dogs that won't conform the the new standard. Such as massive heads, overdone muscle structure, etc etc.

I own a UKC dog that before did not conform to the UKC as she is only 38 pounds and from a notorious UKC line that is sought out. Now she just may make GrCh this year (2009) ! I believe the standard for females is 35-50 pounds but porportionate bitches can place (as well as males).

You know I love the UKC, but I will admit I have been more than discouraged at times. Often offended. Now the tables have turned and them folks who look down on those who breed or feed TERRIERS will now be the ones out of place.

When are you going to show UKC? You know we have PLENTY of shows a year here in the area all within 1-2 hours drive time. And we just incorporated weight pull and have a track so UKC dogs can go for pull titles as well without having to drive to BFE to compete. I believe UKC has 24-26 POINT shows a year in Florida!!!! (SMILE)

Now if I can just find me an AKC'd APBT!!!!!! They have 100+ shows a year in the FL and GA area!!!
