Tyson is just a family dog.
He stays on the chain while we're not home, and when we are home he gets off and runs around the yard, plays with his toys &&who ever is willing to let a Pittie give big slobby kisses to the face, and sometimes he gets to play with Lady/Missy my other dogs.
When we took him to the vet, they weighed him and said he was at 82 pounds I think that was it, but they said he wasn't overweight, just muscle?.. [[and of course, bones, ect.]]

I'm not sure what to think?
He's 2 ((will be 3 next year in March or May))..

Can anyone help me with this?.. Possibly..?

Well, Im pretty sure that all will agree execept for the " vet " that your dog is over the weight limit...

But I really dont understand what it is your asking..

Need help on calling him overweight or??

As long as the dog is eating good and is being loved in a responsible way is usually all thats needed.

I am confused too. If you are asking is he overwieght, yes in my opinion. Are you wanting him to lose weight? That can be done with one feed a day and excercise.;)

Posting a picture might help a bit. Is that him on the bottom of your post?

Most vets don't seem to realize what is a good weight and what is overweight, at least from my experience.

    Thanks for all the replies.

I always thought that was any 'okay' weight for him, until I was searching through some threads and seen where they were talking about dogs weights, and seen where someone had said they're dog weighed right at 70 pounds and now they had him at 40 and healthy.
So, I was curious to whether the vet was right, and I just had a big dog, or was he overweight, which I don't want him to be. I'd like him to keep him at a healthy weight. :)

I wasn't sure exactly what the question was, maybe just opinions? :)

I, personally, couldn't tell you whether or not he's a healthy weight until I can see a full (preferably side shot) body picture of him.

For a full APBT, 80 lbs is too big.
But is he a mix? or an American Bully?
Because that's going to play a big part in the opinion.
Can you see any ribs at all? And I don't mean sticking out necessarily, I mean just a hint of ribs showing through the skin?
Does his tummy tuck up at all, or is it straight across? er...does that make any sense?

You can get purebred APBTs who are 80 lbs, but they are the exception, not the rule. Now I would not say a 100 lb dog is pure or even a 90 lb one, but I have seen/read about some 70 - 80 lb purebreds. But again, they don't get that big as a general rule & those who weighed that much were at c.w.

Well, the mom of him was purebred APBT with everything along with that. She had some champion showlines, ect. and while in heat they let her into their backyard and their neighbors American Pit, who was also fullblooded but wasn't what you might wanna call 'breedable'. [[He didn't have health tests or anything, you know?]] He escape the chain and ended up digging a hole under the fence and bred with the female, causing Tyson to pop out. So, he is pretty much all APBT.
And yes, I can see his rins through his skin. They're not popping out there, but I can see them.
And his tummy does tuck. MAYBE I can get some good pictures of him here soon, but that's hard to promise since he won't stand still and no one will help hold him while i'm taking the pictures.

Have someone hold a treat over his head. Works for me

Could try putting him on his chain and tossing a treat now and then. They usually stare you in the face for more, lol

Yeah, I may be able to get a few side shows but they won't be very clear, but trying won't hurt ehh?
