Does anyone on here know a company that will provide home owners insurance here in Texas even if you have bulldogs? My parent's just got dropped because their insurance company found out they had "vicious dogs" in their yard. Turns out most insurance companies here won't insure you if you have any type of bully/working breed. I figure there's gotta be somebody that will or at least a waiver you can sign or something. Anybody on here have home owner's insurance. Any help would be great. Thanks.

State Farm is usually a good one for being breed-friendly. AllState said they would insure us with our dogs as long as there was a fence or some other kind of barrier to keep them from the public. And Foremost doesn't care about the dogs, at least on the quote we got.

I have Allstate and have had Mercury as well, I told both of them I didnt own dogs. I've never had either of them come look in my backyard to make sure or anything, no problems

  5. in NY Liberty Mutual does not discriminate, but i think the underwriting can vary from state to state

Try Foremost Insurance, they cover all homes and did not give me any shit about my dogs at all. I even ask them over and over and they said they insure the home not the dogs! Thats why they call it Home owners and not dog owners Insurance. http://www.foremost.com/ I been with them for 5 years!

This is a problem though. For one, if they do somehow figure it out, they will immediately drop you. Period. For two, should something happen, even just a dog scratch on someone & they sue, you are screwed as they will NOT cover it AND you will be dropped immediately.

Some insurance companies have company-wide bans on certains breeds and even mixed breeds. Some states have legislation that prevent all insurance companies from breed bans.

The most important thing is that insurance reps are individuals and the majority of the time it's up to each individual agent as to whether or not they want to insure someone with dogs from the "blacklisted" breeds. So even though one agent through one company turns you down, it doesn't mean all agents of that company will. You just have to keep calling.

And from what I know about State Farm, as a company they are non breed judgemental. My agent knows what kind of dogs I own, however they only asked if I had large (over 35 lbs) dogs or small dogs (under 35 lbs).

Miakoda, My home burned 4yrs ago, their was no hiding the fact that I had dogs there when the insurance company arrived, one of my dogs was trapped in her kennel in the garage and died there.

I put all my dog supplies on my personal lost claims and was payed for everything to do with my dogs that was lost. Nothing was said about not putting my dogs down on my insurance, they still covered everything.

and I still to this day have the same insurance company, so you saying if they ever found out I had dogs they would drop me immediatley is false.

*While my home was being rebuilt, the house we rented said I could keep two of my dogs there as long as we had renters pet owner insurance for pit bulls. I called Gieco and it was around $120yr and they didnt care what breed of dog I had.

The reason I didnt have pit bulls on my insurance: The type of insurance providers I would want for my home will not cover pit bulls. For you to get home owners insurance with pit bulls included it will have to be some knock off insurance company and goooood luck if a tragedy ever does happen with one of these Mc Insurance companies.

If I didnt have the best policy from Mercury, I would have been sht out of luck, I can tell you that. My agent talked me into their best coverage which I wasnt going to get.

and if youre going to lie about the breed of dogs you have, I dont see any difference in not telling them you have any dogs at all. If your dog does cause any trouble, its going to be known its a pit bull and you'll be in the same place if not worse then if you said you didnt have any dogs.

I'm not an expert, just speaking on my personal experience
